I hope CH doesn't get upset for sharing his picture but this is a perfect example of what can happen with a pad/BP mismatch
 
I also had one of the MEGS MF pads come apart just like inthe picture but I think it had more to do with heat then the wrong backing plate. I was using the MEGS BP with the cutting pads. The cleaning on the fly is when the pad failed. When using compressed air to clean the pad and this also cools down the pad at the same time I had no issues.

I see the pads in your post are the constant pressure pads... when are we going to see these at Autopia?? Hmm?? I can tell a diffrence with them!
 
With the microfiber pads the problem is more the difference in the hook n loop material. The hook doesn't engage all the way with the loop (different sizes) which can cause excessive heat, and thus pad failure.
