Who hosts your website?

O RLY?
I'm thinking of making a website and I'd like to know who some good hosts are. The only one I can think of right now is GoDaddy.com, are there other inexpensive but quality hosting sites?

Thanks.

addaction.net - only $7 a month. First timers get the first 6 months free so it's only $42 for the first year. I've had them for two years and haven't had any issues. They're support is quick with responses as well.

I used namecheap.com for my domain registration.

Sagemind.com is a great host that is based in NYC. They have very fast servers, and great tech support. Plus i know the guy who runs it, so i may be able to sneak in a 20% discount ;)

I have used godaddy.com a little bit and have liked them.

I am currently working on another site for someone and they use www.fluxservices.com Their service is awesome, and they give you a lot of behind the scenes features, but they cost a few dollars more than godaddy.

I havent used them yet, but Leo Laport (radio guy) has reccomended/advertised for www.ipowerweb.com It seems that they give you a free domain name with the montly service which looks nice.

These guys seems awesome! I may actually use them for a site I'm going to build soon.

If you are starting out and you want something simple, couple of pages and no complex online ordering, just use the ISP you connect to the internet with, dialup, DSL or cable internet, most provide webspace for you as part of service. Usually the website will be the ISP's name "/" and your userid so it's not a friendly name for your customers to use so the next step is to go to a domain name registrar, I use registerfly.com and setup a domain name for about $10 and have it point to your new website name inside a frame (this keeps your domain name on top instead of the ISP name), and walla, free website hosting with your domain name.

Now if you are going to do something more serious like dynamic pages and databases like ASP, JSP, PHP programming you will have to go to good ISP. I use EDTHosting.com because for $5/mo I get MS IIS servers and I can do simple ASP programming to manage some online transactions, which is probably out of scope for a detailer. If you prefer PHP programming look for a web host that uses Apache servers or if it's JSP you want to dable in, look for one that uses Tomcat.
