I got my new cat and was wondering if any one has used their products such as tire cleaner and speed shine. They seemed to be priced competatively and was wondering how they work. Is the speed shine a good QD?

I like some of the Griot's products like the window cleaner, wheel cleaner and vinyl & rubber dressing. Once you buy the spray bottles, which I really like the refills are reasonable.

I think Redcar GUY is a big fan of Griots, why dont you check out the reviews?

:nixweiss Sometimes I forget they are there, but they are very usefull.

I have samples of just about everything they sell now. As far as wheel cleaner, It's fine. Ultimately I prefer Eimann Fabrik All Purpose Cleaner as my favorite.

Speed Shine is, in my opinion, not all that great. It wears off quickly, doesn't have the highest gloss and doesn't buff off as nicely as some. I find several other QD's that I prefer more.

I like some of their stuff, Under carriage spray, wheel cleaner...

As with any store, do your home work....you may find the same product at a cheaper price somewhere else ;)

their products pretty much do what they say they do.. I think their wheel cleaner and speed shine QD are excellent.. I also use their interior cleaner in the car and in the house.. I like their protectant on the dash and such because its low gloss.. I like their finest sprayer on their bottles because they just do a great job of spraying..

I use S100 wax now though.. but will use up my Best of Show.. the polishes are good..

I got the yellow bucket w/wheels and the boars hair brush and really, really like them..

I think thats enough for now.. whew

Ozzfather,

I really like their window cleaner, especially when using a Viper glass cleaning microfiber towel. I like EFCP & Quick Shine over their Speed Shine. I also really like their Leather Care for the interior.

Cheers,

Only QD's I have had experience with are Z7 and Megs. Z is cool Megs I use ase lube for clay, love the smell lol.

I have all their products. On a scale of 1 -10 I'd give it about 8, better than most off the shelf items. I'm using them up on my beater car and don't think I would re-order due to high price.

Some of my favorites are the glass cleaner, interior cleaner, rubber cleaner.

The bottles are excellent & I plan to re-fill them with my favorite products.

BTW - The big yellow wash bucket... Although my PC came with a hard case, I find the yellow bucket will store a PC perfectly and has slots that will allow you to store about 6 pads! I remember someone looking for a PC case here before and I should have chimed in....just thought of it now..

I never thought of that and its a darned good idea...

TheOzzfather- I'm a pretty big Griot's fan. For "drivers" , I like the SpeedShine better than EF Clear Pearl. All Griot's products, as Dboat said, do what they are supposed to, but are a bit pricey.

Griot's products that are NOT so hot include their polishes (better choices from Meg. and 3M), and their waxes. I did NOT like their microfiber wax and polish removal towels either. Note that they accept returns on any product you don't like (but you eat the shipping).

Their boar's hair brushes (NOT the flow-through one!) and the yellow bucket with casters are GREAT :up

I have tried many of Richards’s products. I pretty much agree with the opinions of other posters on this thread. I think his products do work as advertised; maybe not to the extent he exclaims with statements like, "...my 'fill in the blank' is the best 'whatever' you can buy in the world..." however.

Highlights for me are...

1. Vinyl and Rubber Dressing (though I use 303 and Vinylex more often)

2. Speed Shine

3. The Boars Hair Brush

4. The PC Orange and Red pads

Products I will pass on are...

1. Machine Polishes (very hard to work with IMO)

2. Best of Show Wax (very hard to work with IMO)

I'm sure I will always purchase various products from Richard. I will also always comparison shop beforehand as his prices are definitely on the high end. I guess part of his premiums are for his great customer service staff and his entertaining catalogs (always a great read - the best in the business IMO).

The big yellow bucket they sell is actually a commercial window washing bucket. If you do a search on google or otherwise for "window cleaning supplies" you should be able to find it from a janitorial supply company much cheaper. I just snagged 2 of them for $20 a piece CDN and it included the pole and window washing squeegee too!

Griot's is where I first learned about the "higher end" detailing supplies. My favorites are:

Speed Shine (formerly "Fast Shine) I use for claying and quick touch ups because it is thinner and contains little or no wax. Smells great too.

Vinyl and Rubber Dressing. As stated before, it's low gloss looks good and doesn't feel greasy. On the tires it does not sling like most dressings can. I also use it on the bra (or front "mask" as my wife calls it)

His interior "Leather Scent" is awesome.

I usually get a package for birthdays and Christmas from my wife from Griot's because she says when it comes to my cars "money is no object". Yikes!

I have used their Speed Shine and I feel it is a pretty good QD. I have since found others that I really prefer.

I really like the Undercarriage Spray and use it frequently on my show car to dress up my suspension pieces.

I must say that Griots customer service is excellent. Once, I ordered 2 bottles of Speed Shine and the one bottle was cracked during shipping and started to leak. I called and spoke to Griots about this and the customer service rep sent out a new bottle right away no questions asked.

I did have some problems with their white MF towels. I noticed that they were causing some micro marring on my car. The towels were old but I had hardly used them. I did call Griots to complain and they offered to refund my money or to replace the towels for free.

Their products tend to be pricey. However, like RCG said it you shop around you can get similar products at better prices.

I don't know about everyone else..but I swear I get a catalog from them once a week :D

JB in Irvine- Wow, that was a good post! :xyxthumbs

One place where my experience has differed from yours is with the 100% cotton towels. I find the "DRY" towels aren't too absorbent and the "WAX" towels aren't as soft as my Charismas. They do wear like iron, though.

Glad you mentioned the Plastic Coated Sockets! They really do protect the wheels. I got an extra set to send along when the cars get serviced and to take on trips.
