White Vehicles .....

Why am I never happy with how they look when theyre done ??

Sure theyre cleaned, cut and polished the same as any other vehicle I do, they just never have the same WOW effect....

Any tips ?

What are you comparing it to? If you are comparing it to my white car then just give up. You'll never achieve it. lol ;) J/K man. White is just a tough color. About 40 coats of Klasse with a dozen coats of Platinum topped with 10 or 12 coats of Souveran will definitely wow you. I can show you proof of that. Its just a matter of using the right combination of products.

I second the not being happy with white idea. I've done white cars, and exactly- they're polished and waxed and look fine, but it doesn't look that great. There is one exception however, Jngrbrdman's integra, that has some pop to it. Granted, that type of effort is not possible with a typical 4 hour detail.

I've had real good results using Meguiars Swirl Free, Vanilla Moose and S100 on white cars. You definitely get a wet sheen even on white.

I did this Mustang a month or so ago:

That Mustang looks great Scott. I have yet to use Clearkote on anything but black. I am going to do my mom's Stealth (white) and her 350Z (silver) and am going to see what I think. I'm probably gonna use P21S instead of MW because it looks great especially on the Z.

I have had several white cars/trucks over the years. I have found that the best gloss on white comes from a polymer (#20). I actually prefer white over many colors as the scratches that plague dark colors are not as visible on white!! Here is a picture of my wife's white mini-van!

Cheers!

white cars and other light colored cars just don't have the depth that darker colored cars have. when looking straight at a dark car you can see reflections further back than in a light colored car. however, when a light colored car is done right you can get some pretty nice reflections when looking on an angle. the link below is what i'm talking about; is this close enough to the WOW effect you're looking for smoker?

My favorite color on a car is white. It is a very forgiving color. I had a white car years ago and I thought the results I achieved via wax was excellent, and that was just regular old Meguires cleaner wax. My next car/truck will be white. Dark cars just show everything.

Well heres the vehicle in question.

Rather overworked 1993 Land Cruiser @ 113k miles.

It got a 3hour detail yesterday, and looked 1000% better without a doubt.

There was no direct sunlight (it was overcast this morning) but what ya think ?

DACP/Glaze/S100.

I'm just not overly impressed with it!

LOL.

I did one just like that and it looks just about the same! I agree they look better, but I did a CRV the other day, black, and even though it was in terrible shape, the paint still had depth, I just don't find that ability to have the depth with a white car with crappy paint. If the customer is happy, I am happy though.

Off topic- this one time I was doing a car and I hadn't even touched the paint besides washing it and I just decided to dress the tires, the guy came out and started telling me how great the paint looked and how smooth it was. All I had done was wash it! What the mind wants to believe...

Customer was more than happy.

Specially when I told her it was 10 bucks off the bill for every referral she got me :P

Amazing what people will do when moneys involved.
