For applying tire and dash/interior dressings do people prefer foam, microfiber, terry, or even sponges?

I use a normal rag. My dashboard has a texture and is black so it cant really be seen if scratched (unless i havent had a scratch yet). But i would also like to know what the best way is to apply.

Also, if anyone has a plastic/rubber dashboard liek the VW's, please let me know what you use.

I have a VW Passat with the black and tan textured interior. I use a microfiber towel, fold it into quarters, spray one side with Meg's QID (really want to try some of the PB's Natural Look Dressing, gonna pickup some 303 tomorrow and try that) and apply, flip to a dry side and buff off.

To clean it, I do the same thing , but with a 1:6 Woolite/Water mix (apply with microfiber, flip over and buff off).

Seems to me that terry would leave too much lint, but I think a foam applicator would be fine.

Just my 2 cents... there are many different ways and products that will work just as well.

What is Meguiars QID? Quick instant detail? :P. You have not found anything specifically for our types of dashboards?

Yes, this has been my experience with the terry applicator pads. At least the ones I have bought.

Meg's QID = Quick Interior Detailer

VW relabels some products that they hype as "specifically for VW's", but they are just re-labeled Eagle One products.

There are lots of textured dashes out there, and lots of fine products that will work on them.

For interiors I use either a MF or a sponge, I really prefer the sponge, but it depends on what product I'm using. For tires, I love the Eagle One Tire Swipes for SUVs so far, will try some of the big round yellow foam sponges I got from Werkstatt sometime this year.

For interior I use MF towels. The inexpensive Vroom towels found at Target to be exact. For the tires, I recently started using a foam applicator made specifically for the job - works very well and I seem to use less product to get the job done. It was part of an order I placed for an assortment of MF, terry and foam applicators.

I have been using those round foam applicators for applying tire shine products. They have been working out pretty good. For interiors I like to use small clean cotton terry towels.
