im about to place an order and for polishes i was gonna get ssr 2.5 and 1. then i noticed the wolfgang 3.0 combo is on sale for 40 bucks. so itd be 32 vs 40 for the same amount. would i notice any difference between the two? also i was going to get a 6 pack of 5.5 inch pads. 3 orange and 3 white...should i get some other color? I use optiseal which i apply with the foam pads that came with it so i figured I dont need to use pc to apply anything.

What's your budget for the polishes and pads? I think you can do much better than the Poorboy's and Wolfgang line of products in these areas.

i dont really have a budget ive just seen pictures of cars detailed using ssr and they always looked good to me. figured it wasnt really necessary to buy more expensive ones.

I have the SSR2.5 and SSR1 and have gotten fine results with them. Nowadays though, I use Megs 105 and 205 almost exclusively. I hear the Wolfgang polishes are simply rebottled Menzerna and are pretty good too.

Not sure about Wolfgang being rebottled Menzerna (never a good idea to jump down those rabbit holes), but the newer Meguiar's and Optimum polish lines will serve you better with your PC in my opinion...much less dusting than the SSR line, meaning less chance of reintroducing marring, more user friendly, and a better finish. This is from my own experience and from several of my friends (who strictly use the PC). I could be off base though, as Poorboy's may have changed their formulation since 2005, but I'm unaware of any major changes. I just wanted to throw some options out there for you to consider.

The Wolfgang is not rebottled Menzerna .But they were formulated by Menzerna

I would lean more to the Wolfgang .But I don't think you could go wrong with Either

which optimum products would i need? they have 4: hyper compound, compound 2, polish 2, and finish polish.

Me personally.I think that the Optimum polishes take to long to breakdown on a PC as they have a very long work time. I have used them as those were some of my first polishes I used with my PC when I started. Don't get me wrong they are good stuff .But I find them better for Rotary use. I have since moved to the Menzerna and Prima polishes .
