which paint would burn easier?

while wetsanding using 1200 grit ...an 85 dodge truck or a 03 mazda 3? anyone know? is there a way to tell? im thinking i might have gotten to the primer on my little brothers car because after compounding with pi3000 via rotary & wool pad then foam two times it wont seem to come out.

oh and the reason for the truck comparison is that practiced on my work truck with a lot of pressure on the paper, many times back and forth and was able to compound everything out, i didnt use much pressure at all on the mazda, nor did i make that many passes

The only way to tell is with a paint thickness gauge.

well after further evaluation i dont think i did sand through to primer, i noticed on the top of the doorjamb there was a significant scrape taht can only be touched up (by me anyhow) and the color is drastically darker for through the paint, does this offer me any hope?
