Which pads? So many pads...

I have a Griots Boss 21 with the 5" backing plate. Id like to get some new pads, but theres just so many to choose from. Is any one brand better than another?
Originally, I was going to get the Rupes pads since they were the up-scale brand of long-throw polishers. But after looking around a little...now Im more confused that ever.
Since I do many different vehicles and paint types, I guess Im looking for the best "average" pad brand to buy the range from. I mostly use the polishing (Rupes yellow) and finishing (Rupes white), because the vehicle I work on are generally in decent shape.
Again...Ive not used Rupes before, and I currently have a mish-mash of pads for my old rotary and older DA buffer. Looking to get a new set for this long-throw DA.
Any suggestions?

buff and shine flat pads is what ive been using. Orange and white for polishing. nice finish, decently smooth on a long throw machine and very durable. best bang for buck pad IMO.

I havent tried the new "long throw" pads yet but Lake Country and Buff and Shine both make them, looks comparable to Rupes pads.

I have the Lake Country thin-pro pads for my Rupes 15 and enjoy them. Very smooth and seem durable, though Ive only used them a few times so far. I dont think you can go wrong with any of the long throw specific pad options, but I have seen several complaints with the Rupes pads not lasting, but your results may vary.

Watching this discussion with interest, not that I really plan to go long-throw ("L-T") in the forseable future.

With *standard-throw* polishers, I find all the infinite varieties of pad to be mostly solutions in search of a problem. I get by just fine with a very limited variety of pads. But I have zero idea whether that might also apply to L-T units.

Lake Country HD pads. Super tough and feel more balanced than Rupes pads on my Mark II. I am not a fan of thin pads on any of my long throw DAs. Entirely too much vibration.

Thats weird. I have a mark 2 as well and with the thin-pro pads I think it is smooth. Every time I have used the pads I have never had any fatigue from vibrations or anything.

I wasnt referring to those in general, but some others that I have used. Like the Hydrotech thin pads and Megs MF discs. Both vibrate like crazy.
