Which is better to use for wiping off polishes and waxes?

Between a microfiber towel and a 100% high quality cotton towel, which would be better at removing polishes and waxes and providing the most resistance to marring? I was just curious on this since I've noticed that Zaino reccomeds using 100% cotton towels, and I'd be interested in seeing what you all thing on this subject.

I prefer a high quality MF. Good quality cotton towels are getting hard to find, unless you get some from DFT.

I agree on good towels. I have found that Bed Bath & Beyond has really soft and plush cotton towels.

Assuming both the microfiber and towel of good quality, which would be better? To me it seems like a cotton towel would have more nap thus not having as much as a chnace to mar, but I could be wrong on that.

As far as a high quality MF, what do you all consider high quality? I've been using the plusher white micrfibers that Meguiars sells, I'm not for sure the exact name of them. Are these towels ok to use?

Too much nap sometimes makes it a bit harder to remove some waxes or polishes. I like a plush towel for QD's and final buffs, but a shorter nap for initial removal.

I'm not sure about the Meg's towels since I haven't used them for years. It's hard to beat the quality of the MF's you'll get from PakShak, Exceldetail, Danase, or here at Autopia.

Here are my three favorite towels:

General purpose MF (wax/polish, removal, buffing, etc.):

MICROPAK 16" x 16" Ultra-Plush Micro Fiber Towel

General purpose WW drying towel:

Excel Monterey Waffle Weave Drying Towel

Very large and plush MF for blot drying:

Extremely Large Water Devourer

DFT towels remove waxes, polishes and sealants better than any microfiber towel I have used and I have purchased quite a collection of microfiber. Besides, Zaino has approved the use of DFT towels and according to DFT's website, its towels are cotton made into a microfiber called Alpina (if my memory is correct). Anyhow for removal of sealants, waxes and polishes, I don't think there is anything better than DFT.

There are good/bad MFs and good/bad "regular" towels. If in doubt, CD-test and inspect the CD with magnification.

I think I'll try some of these towels up. Did they seem to cake up quick with polish or wax residue while wiping off with the towels?
