Which CGs, wash and wax or wash and gloss?

Hiya,

I am moving house and for the next year it will be pretty hard for me to keep up the current detailing i do. And am thinking of getting a wash and wax product to do weekly or half weekly topped up by autoglym autogloss rinse, and then once a month when i get home give it a really good wash and a proper wax.

But i am undecided on which wash and wax to get from the chemical guys stuff. Which would you suggest between the:

Extreme body wash - ' A highly concentrated bodywash shampoo with added gloss enhancers ,restoring the just waxed look on your surafce.A blend of conditioners gently nourish the surface whilst the synthetic wax emulsion lubricates the surface breaking down the toughest of grime and dirt. Our unique soap and wax emulsion even allows hard water to sheet off.Extreme bodywash is biodegradeable and PH balanced making it gentle on all automotive surfaces.A high gloss with the easiest of effort.'

and

Citrus wash and gloss - ' A gentle citrus based bodywash and gloss enhancing shampoo.'

What do you reackon?

While I have no experience with the Extreme Body wash, if you were to buy on hype alone CG's Citrus Wash n' Gloss is probably more popular at the moment.

At its stronger dilution, I really like the Citrus wash for paint cleansing but I don't think it's anything special in normal wash dilution. I prefer Duragloss' car wash soap instead because to me it seems to offer a bit more lubricity.

As far as a wash n' wax type of car wash shampoo, IMO ONR seems to leave the best look behind. It looks like you had dried and qd'd the car. I still prefer conventional washing though. But since you say you don't have much time for detailing, this might be a product worth looking into because even though I'm not the most proficient with rinseless washing, it still ends up saving me time. When I'm really short of time, that's when I prefer to do an ONR wash.

I love CGW&G with my foam cannon. I use just about an ounce and spray it on the car, let it sit for a couple minutes, wash the entire car, then rinse. Leaves the absolute best finish without any other products that I've seen.

But it isn't a true wash and wax product and if thats what your after then you should go with something else. However, I like to use it on basic washes because it leaves such a nice shine and gives a "just waxed look" IMO.

+1. I use a mix of two ounces of Z7 and one ounce of CW&G in the foam cannon, with great results.

Just be careful with how you dilute the CW&G. It will strip your wax or sealant off if you mix it too strong.

Hi

To be honest if your drying your car with with MF's or WW then you could (should!?) be using a QD to aid in drying and help reduce the chances of swirl marks.

I would pick up a QD with protective properties like Meguiars Ultimate Detailer. Apply as you dry and lay down some protection.

As for the CG washes there only worth the money (i presume your from the UK?!) by the gallon. I have Extreme Wash N Wax and it really leaves the car looking good after a wash. I dont know if its leaving anything behind other then conditioners, I have only seen it a few times on it own as i QD when i dry.

Yeah im from the uk, so wont be able to get it in a large quantity but that suits me as im going to be living in a small falt where space will be a premuim.

Sorry i forgot to add that i will also be drying with a qd probably the megs new one as mt nxt has just run out.

Hi Pomme,

Im from the UK too, im just in the USA at the moment.

A gallon of CG car wash runs about 18.99 pounds-sterling and 32oz will cost you just under 13 pounds-sterling. Chemicalguysuk.co.uk you have to email if you want gallons.

Serious Performance.co.uk do a great product you might like, there own QD. Its concentrate and 1 US (3.78Litres) gallons worth fits in to a 1 litre bottle. Mix it as you needed it, i think its about 14.99 for the dilutable 1litre bottle.
