I've got the letters for my Boxer badge now and I just need to decide on a position for it. Should it go on the left side of the deck, right side above the 2.5GT, or right side under the 2.5GT?

Here are the letters just sitting on top of the 2.5GT.

The letters look pretty good. They are bigger than the original LEGACY badge. More along the lines of the GT. Anyway, I'm just trying to decide on a spot and then I'll slap em on.

dont have any badges!

For my 2c, the clean look of a badgeless sleeper is much better.

I have to agree. Don't let anyone know what hit them!

Your car though and if you want to put them on, I sure won't stop you. I had to buy the 'cowl induction' letters for my Chevelle's hood because otherwise there were open holes.

Yeah, I've thought about that. But then I though about the fact that anyone can have a debadged Legacy. Not everybody will have BOXER on it. ;) I want people to ask me what a Boxer 2.5GT is.

I've decided against the badge. I put it on the left side and it just isn't doing it for me. Oh well.... I guess I'm glad I tried it out so it doesn't bug me wondering "what if..." It looks a lot better with just the 2.5GT.

Since you have it and the emblem does look good. How about mounting it in the engine bay somewhere. On the aircleaner? Just a thought

I voted for right side under the 2.5GT but in all honesty I like the idea of no badges at all. Just think of pulling up next to a unsuspecting Corvette or Mustang and giving them "da business". :sign

I voted for Below too. Putting it on the left would be too busy. On top, I dunno, I just don't like the way it looks/sounds.

What is a Boxer 2.5 GT?
Any 180 degree (flat), opposed multi-cylinder engine is considered a âہ“boxerâ€Â because the connecting rods move straight in and out of one another as if the heads were âہ“boxingâ€Â.

Some notable boxers:

2-cyl

BMW âہ“Râ€Â bikes

4-cyl

VW bug, Porsche 356, 914, 912, Boxter, Saubaru WRX, Impreza, Legacy

6-cyl

Porsche 911, Chevrolet Corvair, Subaru SVX

12-cyl

Ferrari 512 BB (Berlinetta Boxer), 512 M, Porsche 917

16-cyl

BRM H16 F1 engine; architecturally two 8-cyl boxer cylinder sets stacked on top of one another in one crankcase with two crankshafts connected by gears. Hooo Ya!.

the engine is a boxer engine ( ie flat four is squarish - shaped like a box )

Actually, I believe it's called boxer because of its orientation in the engine bay (north-south as opposed to east-west).

As far as badging I feel your dilemma. It's nice to have that custom touch but it probably looks better without it :)

It's called a boxer because as mentioned above, the rods are almost "boxing" each other. A boxer is essentially a flat setup, no? It is not related to engine bay orientation.

You're right, I got confused with something else.

When I first read about boxer engines that description made sense to me but over time it just evaporated.
