Where should I put the pictures?

I've got some time to kill tonight, so I've been updating a couple things on some websites. I need to get product pictures on the Basic Detailing Guide on OCDetails.com. I'm having a problem figuring out where to put them though. If I put them under the section that I talk about them then I get a ton of white space. I could put them all at the bottom in the order I talk about them, but that will be hard to keep straight. I don't really know exaclty what would look best. I could use some opinions. Any thoughts? The purpose of OCDetails is to provide information that is easy to get to and fairly easy to understand. I don't want to wreck that by placing pictures in the wrong places.

I forget where I saw it (oh yeah TI), but make a collage of the products spoken about before the paragraph. Just a quick photoshop of it together. It's probably a pretty simple thing for you and will help break up all the text with some graphics.

Hmmm... I'll have to figure out a way to do that one. My dilema comes in trying to show the products without having a bunch of white space. Making a collage of the products wouldn't really show them the way I want to I don't think. I'd like to make it as clear as possible what I am talking about so that someone doesn't just grab something that looks similar and then gripe that it was a sucky product. Hmmm... It would be easier if I could just use links, but I don't want to do that. Maybe I can upload pictures of the products and then link to those instead of to a place to buy them from. What do you think about that idea? Then I can use the collage idea without worring that I'm not giving a good enough view of the products.

This may be kind of basic but let me toss it out there anyway...... Maybe put small pics out to the right side of each paragraph that describes the product. Maybe you could click on it to enlarge the photo? Just a shot in the dark.

One thing you might want to look into is the Eagle one A2Z - which I think is now called All Wheel and Tire Cleaner and in a grey bottle. If it really has changed and the good ole orange bottle is not coming back (I can't hardly find it anymore locally), you may want to go ahead and update that.

One other thought might be to make the blue text "clickable" for pics. Just a couple of suggestions. :)

I guess I could put them to the side. I'll have to perfect my pop up making abilities so that I can get the smaller images clickable and pop up larger images without leaving the article. Hmmmm.... I smell a challenge. :naughty

I kind of like Jared's idea of having the product that you are discussing to the side of the paragraph.
You could do it in java as a rollover for the product, this way when someone rolls over it will increase the size of the picture without taking someone off the site (try to avoid doing it as a popup too many people have blockers) and it still would be a clickable link.

Just a thought
"J"

I'm not quite that adept at java to do something like that. If someone has popups blocked then there is usually something that lets them know one was shot down and they can set it to allow them from my site. If they don't want to deal with the popups then they will just have to live with small pictures I guess. I'm still in the process of redesiging the site and I don't really have time to spend a lot of effort on coding on this older one. This site will still be alive and well at www.ocdetails.info though. That's the one I had to tone down to please the signature police at Autopia. Apparantly it is still too commercial, although I don't see how. Anyway, if they won't let me post it over there then I'll just use that domain to host the site as it currently is and the new site can have the .com addy. :)

Thanks for the tips guys. :bigups I was having a brain block there for awhile. I think I can get it looking sharp now.
