Where do you buy your touch up paint?

Online or at the dealership? I assume I could get a better price online. The last time I ordered a few ounces of touch up paint at the stealership, it was extremely expensive.

The paint I bought at Paintscratch.com did NOT match. I returned it but the replacement paint also did not match. I spent money for paint that I can't use. Maybe better to buy from the dealer even if it costs more.

Shoot, I was hoping that would nto be the answer but I had a feeling it would be. Dang-it.

That's a bummer. The bottle they mixed up for me was a great match.

I can see where a lot of factors come into play when mixing a small bottle of paint. My guess is the much smaller quantities required for some colors would make it difficult. There are also small variations from the same batches of paint that are used on a factory color. Any metallic content would compound the issue as would the age (amount of fade) of the color you're trying to match.

I had some paint I was trying to match when I redid a set of fenders and a hood a few years ago. The original color code was off and their computer couldn't match it either. One of the guys from PPG finally took a small piece I had and started looking at colors until he came up with a perfect match. That's also where a talented body shop comes into play that mixes their own paint. They can take a factory color code and if it isn't an exact match they can play with the mixing until they get it right.

Or from an "online" dealership or store that sells OEM touchup paint. Is it a Honda you're interested in?

the dealership (stealership :LOLOL :LOLOL). in my opinion it's the best chance for a good match up. and if it's not you got someone to ask why it didn't!

Ah. Maybe my "process" will help . . . Since I have a Honda, I found a good Honda board and then looked for online dealers that had OEM paint. I found a few, but the shipping made it more expensive than local+tax, so I just got it locally. However, if I was looking to get some filters, blades, etc, adding the paint would have been a no-brainer. Hope this helps!

College Hills?

Locally its is $10 or less for any car I've had. Shipping from a lot of places is that high.

When I bought my first bottle around 5 years ago, it was I believe $45-$50. If I am not mistaking, they are the only Mitsubishi Dealer in town so I am SOL when buying locally.
