you should be able to fing the 3m stuff at your local NAPA

You'll have a really tough time finding Souveran (or any Pinnacle product) on the shelves in any store. They stick pretty much to the internet. Klasse is really tough to find too. You'd have to check either professional detail shops or dealerships. Auto parts stores won't carry it.

I highly doubt it. I would say that they are going to add their markup on it. Now, that is considering that you can find one. It is pretty rare to find a shop that will sell it. I think BMW dealerships carry it sometimes. I would order it from www.tacscar.com They seem to have some of the better prices on Klasse. www.autogeek.net has it too. Actually, there are a hundred sites. :) All of our Auotpia sponsors carry it too. Just click on a link at the top of the page and Viola! Klasse galore. :D

I also live in MD. Finding detail stuff in this state is a b%$#@. Ther are no auto parts stores near me, and when I find one bout 30-40 miles away htey don't have anything! I just get everything online in bulk so it's real cheap.

IMHO, xvworld has the best deal for Pinnacle stuff. Try comparing the prices on xvworld with other web site. I like the deals with the Pinnacle kits. It's quite a steal, EVEN the shipping and handling.

I'd just do one per month. More than one coat isn't going to make it last longer so why waste it? Just put one a month on and you'll be more than pleased. :)

Hmm, was reading through the detailing manual on this site again, and I am wondering if the products that I list are enough. My car is a 1995 Explorer with a dark blue paint job. It has no major defects, but there are some scratches (some bad, some light) that need to be removed and I am almost positive that it requires some oxidation removal as well.....Are the products listed above enough to accomplish a show car finish???

(NOTE: When I run my fingers over the paint, it is almost like a chalky feel; is this oxidation?? The paint does not look bad at all, but this is the feel I get)

You might just need to clay and see if that takes care of it. If you can feel it but you can't see it then its probably just IFO (industrial fall out). We all get it so its no big deal. Klasse will definatly take care of the oxidation but for a real show car shine you may have to break out the polisher and use that on the truck. Klasse isn't going to take out all your scratches or swirls. Pretty much only a polisher is going to do that.

I do have a polish listed on there, though right? (3M Imperial Hand Glaze; I was told this is not a glaze, but a polish)...Are these the right components in order to recieve a "show car shine" aka a "perfect, deep shine"??? Also, in what order should these be applied?? I know that the wax is last and that sealant comes right before that, and polishing right before sealing....Is that right....Sorry to be so general....

You can buy Klasse and many other items from Klasse Direct. Their web site is:

http://www.klassedirect.com/

I've orderd several things from them. Shipping costs were minimal, products were shipped out the same day I ordered them, and they arrived within two days.

Their prices are really good. One liter of Klass AIO from CMA runs $35 but Klasse Direct sells it for $25. Even Mother's Clay is only $18 and I've never found a lower price than that. (If you know of one, please tell me!)

The only thing I think they're overpriced on is their Microfiber line. One MF applicator from them runs $6. But you can buy a larger Viper MF applicator from CMA for $4 (or $3.50 if you buy two). (Granted, these are different brand MF's.)

CMA's web site is:

http://www.properautocare.com/

Also, their Microfiber towels are expensive. They generally run $6.00 to $6.50 each. But like many people here, I buy all my MF towels from JT International for $2.00 each. (Call him at 888-989-4584.)

Hope this helps.

Hmmm, well for the list I gave at the beginning of this threadis about $250 right? If so, then my wallet will just have to suffer as I really want to try cleaning my car the proper way with good stuff, not PepBoys crap. If not, where can I get it for cheaper?? Here's the prices that I have at the moment...

I really dislike AOL. I was just about to submit reply when it froze up my computer. Well let me type it up again,

My recommendations

- Eimann Fabrik Powerwash+ (Wash) $16.95

- Eagle One Scratch Remover (Scratch Remover) $3.95

- Meguiar’s Professional Hand Polish (Polish) - $8.95 (I do not recommend the 3M IHG because the Klasse system does not bond to the oils and fillers on the paint because of the 3M IHG, I believe if my memory serves me correctly, the Meguiar's hand polish has mild abrasives in it.)

- Klasse Sealant Glaze (Glaze) $27.95

What do you plan on washing your SUV with? What do you plan on drying your car with? Any specific wheel cleaner and tire cleaner, tire dressings? Interior dressings and protectants? Leather cleaner and conditioner (if applicable)? Glass polish? Detailing tools??

I just placed an order this morning from www.properautocare.com for a little under $326. $300 is for someone else, but I seemed to add $26 of stuff into the order. I did save a little over $50 from a discount coupon I had.

If you think thats sick, here is a typical Autopian supply list (well mine anyhow)

1) The Eimann Fabrik Powerwash + in my list is what I plan to use to wash it.

2) I was thinking about buying a Big Blue Towel. I've heard good things.

3) Currently, I have the Eagle One A2Z Wheel Cleaner, Bleche-White's Foaming Tire Cleaner and Black Magic Tire Wet(spray). (Is this a good combination??)

4) Interior protectant is also BM Professional Protectant

5) Glass polish?? I think I knew there was such a thing, but what kind is good??

6) Detailing tools?? You mean like foam applicators, terrycloth towels, MFs and the like?? I assume I can find them from somewhere near me for a good price (ie PepBoys:mad:; god I hate that place)

Please tell me if I am forgetting anything or if anything is not exactly up to standard......I'm looking for a phenominal "show car" "perfect shine" finish on my deep, dark blue Explorer.....Thanks guys

PS: In an article about Exterior Detailing, DavidB (the moderator of the entire site, I think; I don't know, I'm new) stated that he uses 3M Imperial Hand Glaze with the Klasse system.....So I ask again, is it good to use with the Klasse stuff??

Well if you get the Pinnacle Kit, it has 16 oz. of Pinnacle Bodywork shampoo in it.

The Powerwash plus is a little strong IMHO. $9.99 at Target for a gallon of Meguiar's Gold Class Wash. Very good value.

2 Big blue towels were in my order. Based upon the good reviews of it, I must get one or two. On sale too.

The Eagle One A2Z all wheel cleaner (new orange formula) is a good wheel cleaner based upon reviews.

I would not recommend the Westly's Bleache White - dulls and grays the tire and has a one too many safety precautions on the label to be safe.

BM Professional protectant for interior protectant?? The clear sutff, haha YoSteve would have a heart attack if I used this stuff in his car. It is a high gloss, oily, greasy itnerior protectant. I don't like it. Leaves the dash so shiny that in the sun it will produce large amounts of glare. The BM matte finish citrius PDMS type dressing is good though, leaves a factory finish.

Pepboys ain't half bad, much better than K-mart. The local Pepboys sells Lexol products (Leather cleaner, Leather condtioner, and Lexol Vinylex (rubber, plastic vinyl dressing (I love this stuff for interiors (diluted 50/50) and full strength on tires).)

I personally use Zaino Z12 glass polish. There is a review of it i the Product Review section.

Jason

PS I haven't read David B's article in a while, but the 3M IHG is mostly oils and fillers designed to be used on freshly painted surfaces. It has no abrasives as stated on the bottle and will not remove any swirls, just cover them up. The Klasse AIO will clean off these oils and some of these oils may still be on the paint and may hinder the bonding of Klasse. I find that 3M Finesse It II Finishg Material is a good medium polish for swirls (when used with a dual action polisher), or the 3M Swirl Mark Remover (when used with a hi-speed buffer.)
