when do you get rid of your foam pads?

When they start to degrade (rip up or separate from velcro), I throw em on the backburner for emergencies only.
 
If they get to the point of being too risky too use to polish with, save them as a pad for use underneath bonnets ( if you use them)
 
Bits of foam flying off, foam that has gotten too rough, stuff like that, pads that have seen a lot polishing and just wear out from use. For instance I have a black LC pad, thats fits this description, I say it lasted me 14 months with enthusiast use. Because that foam is softer I assumed it degraded faster, if I want to use a bonnet I'll put it over this pad.
