To any of you guys removing wheels for a detail or to work on your car please

Know the correct lift points

Know how to use and use jack stands


Some guy in my neighborhood was killed when the seal in his jack went bad. He was under the car working on it.

Don't trust your life with a 3 dollar seal

Just want you all to be safe and sound.
 
Oh man, that's my worst fear, even when I have a jack and jack stands holding my car up I'm still afraid to go underneath.
 
Overkill gents

use not only jack, jack stands but wheels under the mid section... It will save your life. I also make sure my cell phone is accessible to my hand at all times, plus garage open helps so you can yell for help.
 
I live alone and this is one of my biggies too. I hate going under there because even if I dont die right away it would be at least a day or 2 before anyone worried enough to come look.

I was working on my Formula this summer and just moved the wheels under the car because they would be in the way (not intentionally) I had the front of the car on a jack stand, I had to jack the drivers up some more, BAMMMM the pass side fell right off the jack onto the wheel. LUCKY for me. I try to do this every time intentionally now. GREAT TIP I forgot about.
 
SAFETY FIRST! I hate hearing about stuff like this, especially if it could have been prevented. Thanks for the PSA Jeff.
