Wheel types

I have a question reguarding different types of wheels and how to polish them, especially those with clear cotes and such. My buddy has Mickey Thompsons that aree polished aluminum, kinda cloudy, does this have a clearcoat. How can i tell if there is a clearcoat on wheels anyway. Ive tried Mothers clearcoat polish snd AIO but didnt think it improved his or mine(cleared aluminum Amer. Racing). Any thoughts??

Try a small amount of Mag & ALuminum Polish - if it starts turning black, no clear coat - just bare/polished aluminum
