Wheel polishing - pads/wheels for a die grinder or drill?

I'd like to be able to machine polish my wheels a bit more easily. I have been using a mother's powerball mini, however:



-its too big to get into a lot of areas

-its only one type of foam, somewhere between cutting and polish

-replacement foam pieces...where do you get them?



I'd love to be able to get a bit/pad/super mini ball that would work in my die grinder or worst case drill. I have seen the felt buffing cones, but I don't think those are the answer.

Are they painted or like polished aluminum?

Bob, they are painted. I just want to be able to hit the wheels with my polish combo of choice (105/205) via machine. Its a PIA by hand. The powerball mini is ok, but it doesn't get into the tighter places. BTW you owe me a free set if you market them!

just keep in mind, both those tools are designed to remove material, I dont care how soft the foam ball you are using is, moving at 20,000RPM is gonna remove something.

Use the power cone along with the mini on a drill and you should be fine.

Both of those machines have speed control, not just on/off.

Even the cone is too big to fit in some places. There is definitely a whole in the market, you have the small felt wheels but the smallest foam is the mother's mini and cone.

Dremel? Or is the 35,000 RPM too much...

had a set back in the day and they worked all right. dont spimn em too fast or they

will come apart.

FWIW, on my old car when I stripped the wheel clearcoat, I used these cloth buffing discs to polish up the lip. I bought them at home depot for around $5. I was using jeweler's rouge with a cordless drill but should work fine with liquid polish.
