I need a bit of advice due to a major catastrophe with my new Porsche 718 Cayman wheels, which I had `professionally` coated. I live in Dubai, and was (naturally) worried about the effects of sand in the air attacking the car. I had full Xpel Ultimate paint protection film installed, which is awesome, however they also offered to coat the wheels. Teh wheels are the 20" Carrera S wheels, in satin black, which look amazing, or they did! The company used a product from Always Dry, called Wheel Pro Tech. When i got the car back after the installation, all the wheels had visible marks in the coating, as if it hadn`t been fully coated. It went back and they tried again, but they made it worse! It now turns out that they cannot remove the coating - the wheels have to be repainted! And the car isnt even 2 months old yet.
My question is this - once I get the car back with newly painted wheels, I intend to protect them myself this time. I have been doing research and can get Gyeon and GTechniq products in UAE. I would appreciate any advice from guys who have experience with satin finish wheels in very hot, very dusty countries. I look forward to your advice!!
