I have Megs #7 and I have been using it on my newly painted hood, but people have been telling me that #5 is the best thing for it. What is the difference betwwen the two glazes?
unfortunately i havent had the opportunity to use #5 yet but have you used #7.....its mainly more preference than any...both add richness/oils gloss....they are both body shop safe and can be used on new car or repainted cars without any problems...just remember 2 thin coats so it can be removed easily and dont let them dry...wipe on wipe off....you cant go wrong with either one in my opinion..since you have #7 continue to use that once you finish purchase #5 and see if there a diff in your eyes....
I've used both Megs #5 and #7 and no question about it, #5 is much, much easier to use.
Really didn't see much difference in appearance. I found #7 to be streaky and hard to buff off. My bottle of #7 just sit in the back of my supply cabinet unused and unwanted.
05Sleeper- No, no, I just preach about #5 all the time because it's so easy to use. If #7 is working out for you stick with that, it looks better anyhow. Both are equally safe for fresh paint, both need reapplied after every wash.
Accumulator: First of all, since you always seem to be the one who helps me out the most here, my Name is Jason. Secondly, what would happen to the paint if I did wax it?
The problem with waxing/sealing fresh paint is that it interferes with the "outgassing" that allows the paint to cure. The gases that the the solvents in fresh paint give off as the paint hardens can't get past the wax. So the paint never gets as hard as it is supposed to be. Not the end of the world, it's not like the paint will cloud up or peel off or anything like that. But since Audis have such hard paint I wouldn't want the hood to be a lot softer than the rest of the car.
Well, I am going to do something a little pointless now. I am going to through a coat of S100 on the car because I am heading out with "da boys" tonight and i always have to have a sharp looking car... lol
I plan on polishing out the swirls inthe hoo dtomorrow anyway, so...
