What's best 1-step wax for neighborhood detailer?

I just got started doing a few vehicles in the neighborhood for some pocket money. I had been using a 2-step process after washing (UPC/UPP or PwC/EX, etc.)

I wanted to offer a quicker (and cheaper) option for those who only want a basic exterior wash and 1-step wax.

What would you recommend? NXT? PwC alone? #26? What else?

Many thanks in advance for your suggestions.

well maybe from megs, i would think of #66 or color x i heard #66 is underrated and color x worked well for me, when i used it, i need to pull it out and use it again

26 isn't a 1 step wax. It's for use after polishing.

As you've used PwC, you would be best able to decide if that's what you're looking for.
If you're looking for an off the shelf 1 step, I'd recommend Mothers Reflections. Easy to use, works in sun or shade, beading lasts at least a month.
If you feel experimental, maybe try 4 Star Pro's 1 step wax. I haven't tried it, but would like to hear feedback on it. :naughty

I would say either AIO or PwC. Both clean and offer pretty good protection in just 1 step. Also, I've heard good things about Hi-Temp's PPG, which would be a good 1 step for cars with some swirls since it has abrasives. I actually bought some a while back but havn't had a chanced to use it yet (I almost always do 2 steps).

I would have to say # 66 from megs.. It is an awesome product, especially if you top it with something.. #6 isnt really that good. I wouldn't waste your money on it. I already did. I bought a half gallon last year and used it once. Still pretty much full.

if your looking for something you can pick up in a store like pepboys and walmart etc. then i would reccomend nxt.

if you/he is willing to order online i would get aio. probably my favorite 1 step.

I used Megs. Color X on my sons 1989 silver Nissan and I was supprised on how well it came out. For store bought waxes I would say Color X for older cars and NXT for new cars.

I'd go PwC. It cleans very well and offers great shine and protection. It's pretty fairly priced as well. Plus, it gives you the option of upselling a sealant topper like EX or EX-P.

Mothers cleaner wax or Poorboys Pw-c

I agree with both and the Mother's Cleaner Wax is easily available from many local stores. I have used both and with good results from both.

If you are offering a cheaper option, you don't want it too last as long as your expensive option, or why would people ever pay top dollar. I used to use a product called final detail by dupont for cheap jobs or another product called powershine. FD is totally idiot proof and takes 10 minutes max to do a car. Doesn't stain anything and will last up to a month. Powershine is a petroleum product and is also easy to work with. I do everything to avoid these cheap jobs, if you want the credibilty of a pro you need to get paid like one. Every once in a while a friend of your girlfriends babys daddy will want a bargain. All of the products these other members have suggested are too good for the cheap job. Some are easy to work with but will make your car look just as good as your expensive job. Others are to much effort for you not to get paid. You might want to consider giving a customer a discount for the first time only instead of skimping on your job. Over the years this has been my most effective strategy and once they see the results and you explain what you did, they are hooked for life.
