Sorry, I've got a few synthetic chamois that soak up water well while I'm drying, but since I'm just now getting more anal about my car (and after 4 years I should!), I'm curious as to what they are EXACTLY..

Anybody have a picture, where I can get good ones cheap?

And what are they used for?

Thanks for helping a newbie!

Hi Hercules, :)

A good drying towel would be a waffle weave micro fiber towel. There are several reputable vendors here on Autopia that have good waffle weave micro fiber towels. For a picture of them, I would recommend visiting the following sites.

www.microfibertech.com

www.properautocare.com

And last but not least, you can email Tom Gong at JT International for pricing on their waffle weave micro fiber towels. They don't have a website but his email address is [email protected].

Pakshak (Ranney) sells microfiber towels. You can check out some detailed pictures at his site. Ranney has some of the best customer service that I've ever seen. Great all around nice guy. Plus you can check out the autopia discount!!! I love his towels.

www.pakshak.com email or PM him via your Autopia account to contact him about special pricing and the waffleweave towels he should be getting soon (if not already). :)

MF towels from PakShak.:xyxthumbs

MicrofiberTech "ultra" are similiar.:xyxthumbs

For drying a vehicle one would use a waffle-weave MF and the pictured ones here for buffing protectant and QD'ing.

For a pictured "natural" fiber MF go to www.DFTowel.com . These are great for final buffing, post Cali duster wipe down and also great as a wash mit:xyxthumbs.

Although not a closeup, here are the three types of towels I got from JTI. The blue is the 16" microtouch, maroon is 15" ultrafine, and the green is the giant 28x54" waffleweave.
