If you are comfortable with your polishing, then I would say the extractor. However, if you are asked to do some major corrections which may require wet sanding, then I would go with a paint meter. I have both and use both regularly (I have the fender spledor paint thickness guage and a Mytee HP60 extractor). My next investment is going to be the Daimer Kleenjet Pro Plus 200S steam cleaner.

….another vote for the CRSpotless (from my perspective). However, depending on the volume of vehicles you will be washing (along with other factors), resin replacement can get pretty expensive. I have the DIC-20 which I have found perfect for individual use. I have purchased various detailing tools/products/”gimmicks” the last 25+ years but my CRSpotless has to be one of my favorites. ….not likely to get tossed aside like I have done with so many others. It also does double duty when washing the windows on my house.

I'm glad that I'm not alone

after looking over this, i need to update it a little!

I am shocked that I am the only one that thinks a PTG is essential if you are taking a rotary to customers (or even your own) paint!

It may not be as "fun" of a purchase as some of the other gear you want but it will pay for iteself the 1st time you encounter thin paint!!!

I would purchase a PTG before I consider moving up to a rotary for my vehicles, much less a customers vehicle.

Wish I were a newb so I could post a list of goodies from Autogeek...
