What would you do?

So here I am left with this dillema...

I have a WRX with the well known very thin subaru paint.

I just had my front bumper repainted because of a little clip in it and I got the full repaint for a cheap price.

I detailed my car 2 days ago and my bood looks sandblasted. I drive on the highway all the time to schol and back and this winter ruined my hood (as well as my windshield) I dont know if I should have it repainted or if I should pay around the same price for a carbon fiber hood.

My wrx isnt going to be THAT modded by tthe end of the summer (turboback exhaust, engine management, lowering springs and new wheels) and I am wondering if the CF hood would be too ricey or if it would be a good bet.

Tell me your opinions on detailing with a CF hood and looks or my regular black hood.

If carbon fiber is an option then I'd go with it. I would have a CF hood on my car if it wasn't for the fact that I'd look like a reversed skunk (white car w/ a black hood isn't too cool). You can care for a cf hood just like a painted hood if its clear coated. It would look great on the Rex too. Ask anyone who is into modifying their car and I'd bet they would all get a cf hood if it were an option.

You can always have the CF hood painted, but with some parts of the CF showing in a specific pattern. I have seen some motorcycles done that way, and it looks spectacular, if done right.

I agree with the others. After the single turbo is done getting installed on my Supra, the next step will be a couple body mods. A definite piece of the pie will be the Top Secret CF hood. Black cars look great with CF hoods. Whatever you do, just make sure you get a quality hood or it won't fit right ...it'll warp ...it'll discolor and you'll definetly be dissapointed.

2k2blackWRX - I'll bet I'm the *MOST* conservative WRX owner here when it comes to a vehicle's looks. I sorta feel like I'm impersonating someone half my age when I drive it :o That said, "BUY THE CF HOOD"! It's a VERY safe bet that if *I* like it it won't look too boy-racer. The WRX isn't exactly a stodgy, western, olde worlde design that should be left "pure".

FWIW, I too had my front bumper cover redone (highway debris impact) and I had them fill in the front license plate holes (yeah, it's illegal in OH, but they've never cited me in over 20 years). I wondered if the stuff they filled 'em with would shrink/fall our/otherwise screw up, but 18 months later it still looks great.

Get the Kaminari reverse cowl hood :up

That kind of hood wouldn't do his WRX much good unless the intercooler was a front mounted one like that. Kinda tough to get air to an intercooler at the top of the engine with a reverse cowl hood like that. :p

Carbon Fiber Hoods and Body Panels are Nice but I also perfer them painted. I seen a S2000 completly stripped of factory body and redone in CF look nice but then it got painted. Looked even better it leaves like a wierd texture on the paint it looked nice. But it probley cost 3/4 of what the car did.
