What will make my carwashes stand out?

im down with scott. that is exactly what i do also, the clincher is i dont wash your car if ive never detailed it. just saying im in the detailing business not the carwash business. after u get a full detail from me im willing to lose time and money to protect your vehicle, call me as many times as u like and ill schedule for a wash or whatever the car needs. now for those who still dont want a full detail i will do a "deluxe" car wash which would include a full interior without shampoo and good cleaning outside renew trim, all chrome is polished, and rims get polished, started at $45-85 depending on the size of the car. car $45, minivan $65, expedition $85. try something like that plus it will help weed out those that r not serious about your services

Anyone read the marketing book "Zag" yet? In it, you will see what customer want. There are three things

Simple

Perfect

Now

If you can some as close to those three as possible, you've got a winning formula.

If you are using a spray wax I don't see the need to use a "wash and wax" shampoo as well.

The 'nondescript" bottles is a good point. But don't use junky looking bottles either.

Are you doing a quick interior "touch up" on all washes or is that an add on? Even if it's an add on, Clean glass is a big point. I think your should do them an all washes, as many people never bother to clean them theirselves. If the competition (or you) doesn't do good glass, the customer is always going to see the smear in the corner/wherever even after the car gets dirty and they forget the paint condition.
