What to use?

Hey guys,

Well, I just bought a new 4Runner, and I am not sure what to use when I detail her...

She is a Metallic Burgundy color (salsa red)

The color is beautiful and has a lot of metallic flake.

This is VERY diferrent than the Silver Audi I had before, so I have NO IDEA where to start!

Thanks!

How long are you looking for?

I still like paste waxes for looks, but in general they don't last as long as most sealants. One sealer I like that looks great and lasts a little longer than a paste is Blackfire. Zaino Z2 is also very durable, I use it over the winter.

Congrats on the new Runner!! I love those trucks! And, that color choice is exactly what I would want.

Anyhow, I would recommend a sealant for protection, and if you like carnauba, then you could add that as a final step. I would highly recommend you clay the truck before waxing or sealing. Polishing is up to you, if the finish needs it.

Zaino Z2Pro looks great on reds and I have also had good success with Wolfgang Sealant on red, although it was/is nowhere near as durable or protective as Zaino. I remember I had my car sealed with Wolfgang once when taking it to a body shop for repairs. The owner of the shop had never seen red look so good and feel so slick. He had never heard of WG, as I expected. Also get lots of compliments with Zaino on red.

Or, you could go WG+Collinite or Zaino+Collinite for incredible durability, looks, and protection.

I was aslo wondering if the CK combo would be good for my 4Runner:

VM, RMG, CMW?

What do you think?

Or will it take away from the metallic flake?

I think that any Wax will take away from the Metallic where sealants seem to enhance metallic. So do want to give up some metallic pop for depth and wettness -- that is a choice only you can make. I think that anytime you increase depth/wetness you decrease metallic pop. But if you want samples of something I have let me know since you profile says that you are located near me... :dance.

I am not at Ft Riley anymore Dennis. I wish I were, because Texas sucks! lol

Anyways, so I shoul dbe lookng for products that are more "reflective" in nature than those that produce depth and wetness? Is that a correct assumption?

I still have some FMJ, but that is the only sealent I have left. I do have the Menzerna glaze too.

As far as waxes:

S100, PS, NXT, CK CMW, Megs #16

What would you suggest? Is UPP a good one for this?

I just dont have any experience with the color and metallics...
