What to top NXT with?

I've topped NXT with 3M Perfect-It Paste Wax, Meguiar's #26 and New Gold Class. They all looked great. I liked the 3M in particular. It seemed to darken the paint, but durability was the pits. #26 darkened the paint too, but durability was much better. I currently have Gold Class on top of NXT on my wife's gold Accord. Jury is still out on durability. It didn't darken the paint, but it gave an extra shine the other two did not. Wasn't bad or anything, just different. I liked it either way.:)

I've just been adding layers of NXT paste wax (on my 3rd coat). I find that you need to give NXT at least a couple of days to fully cure and get the best from it. I have a sapphire blue metallic paint and NXT is pretty on it.

I recently topped NXT with S100 on black. I am disappointed with the results -- maybe expecting too much. After two weeks, the suface is not as slick, less beading, than when I used S100 clenser/wax alone.

I would say give it 2-3 coats of NXT over a one week period, and top it with 3M or the discontinued Meg#16.

#26 would work fine as well, but to me, the reflections seems not as bright as the #16. Depends on what kind of finish you like I guess.

Weird. Same thing happened to me. I topped NXT x 2 with 3M and got lousy durability. Slickness was barely noticeable after two weeks and beading was nonexistent at four.

Can you say #16 ! My car is still beading after a long harsh Canadian winter and still glossy like I detailed it last summer. I'am just going to add another coat with my PC and call it a summer ...its that good !

would NXT be a good all around wax for a black car with no surface prep.. ie clay barring? or polish? I have a bottle of nxt and my dad wants me to detail my moms all black 01 focus.. it gets waxed about once a year... when I wax it and I don't want to used up my clearkote stuff on it. would nxt be good enough by itself?

NXT has cleaners in it, but they're very slight. Meguiar's claims that it is only there to aid in bonding to the paint. For a car that is only waxed once a year, I think you would be best off with a cleaner wax like Klasse AIO, ColorX or Mother's Carnauba Cleaner Wax. Just don't expect to win any concours events with your efforts:p

I did nxt on top of clearkote vanilla moose... turned out really well actually. gave a really nice shine on a black car that I did.
