What to put on my garage floor for winter?

Last winter my garage floor turned in to Lake Michigan from all of the snow on my car when I pull it in. Any idea what I can do to at least confine the snow and water to one area so it does not end up getting my walls and everythign else in there wet?

I just put down a couple big cardboard boxes down to absorb all the snow/slush/water. Works pretty good for me.

:up I installed the coin pattern of this material (heavier duty material). It does look good, holds up well but there are some downsides; 1. It is amazing how much it expands/contracts due to the temperature. Looking back at it now, I should have overlapped the 2 pieces instead of butting them together and 2. The tires will stain the material. They don't say this in any of the advertising but they clearly state it when you receive the product. They state that some people heve had success in using brake and tool cleaner to get rid of tough stains. I haven,t tried it yet but will give it a shot. The cost to do a 22 foot by a 20 foot area was about $800.

I bought the green to match one of the cars as well as some of the trim in the garage. Thanks, I'll try the WD 40. How would we get along without WD 40, Velcro, Duct tape and cable ties?

These are the mats I had for two years and finally gave up on. I found that a mat under each car wasn't enough to cover the entire floor, and each mat isn't quite wide enough to comfortably walk around the sides. I found that water tended to get underneath the mats and made a mess. Finally, I had a jack slip on me and it tore a small hole. This contributed to the water problem. Finally, as I mentioned in another thread, because I back into my garage and don't have a straight run because of a tight alley, tire squirm becomes an issue.



All in all, I guess for channelling the water, they do a good job, but be prepared for some downsides.



P.S. They sure aren't giving the things away either
 
Well...Monday I stop by the Janitorial Supply and pick up the 24" floor squeege I ordered. I'm planning on using that mainly...Wet/dry vac as a backup. I really want to find a way to deal with the sand and grit the snow contains.
