what to do about rain?

After it has rained? I always wash after it rains. Of course normally I stop working after rain and don't come back until the next day.

As long as it isn't sitting under a tree when it's raining, then right when it stops you can probably get away with a quick detail. The vehicle's already all wet again, might as well wash it again.

For example if I go to work and it rains for a bit, I am stuck at work, or if it rains at night. After it stops raining the paint is left with a dusty residue. If I have a chance I will run water over it to elimiate the dustyness (right after rain).

Not quite sure what your question is.

Are you wondering what to do when it rains WHILE you are detailing or AFTER you are detailing?

This will help get you some answers.

lol ok lets start over.

How about after it rains and the rainwater has been sitting for awhile. Is it ok to QD it? Or should I was it completely?

Depends on how long a while is. J/K.

Here in Vegas when it rains the wind blows. This pust many dust particles in the air and really makes the car dirty. It is past the point of a QD. It takes just a quick wash to remove all of the water spots.

On the other hand, you could possibly get away with it if you get out just as the rain stops and QD the car or maybe even some Eagle One WAYD.

Hope this clears stuff up a little.

Move to San Diego. Or yes, QD works fine. I've found that a nicely prepped and waxed car does not leave too many waterspots due to the protection. They mostly evaporate.

With the sun’s heat (FL) we get after rain I do a Schnell-alternate: (Klasse Wash) Wash vehicle, apply "All-in-One" to entire vehicle while it’s still wet using a damp 100% cotton towel, re-wash, rinse, and dry vehicle.

After a rain, I usually take a look at the amount of junk on the car and let that determine what I do.

Very light rain: small dry spots and little dust. If everything is dry, I just gently CCD the car and then QD.

Medium rain: some water still on the car, light dirt from rain. I use Poorboy's Spray & Wash to clean the car.

Medium to heavy rain: water still on car and road dirt is on the car, I QEW the car.

Medium to heavy rain and caked on dirt (sometimes chunks): full bucket wash.

audipower your a genius! j/k. What sucks is that I have to park out side for 2 more months until my bro moves. I guess I will have to wash it frequently and QD it alot also. (still need a QD)

After reading some interesting articles about acid rain over the years, I have decided that after a rain, a complete bucket wash is needed to flush the finish of the acids. I even put a slight dash of baking soda in the wash bucket before adding the water.

My Bronco is going to get soaked every rain, so Igot a Nextec cover for the Cobra and that helps alot. Much less actual washing.

My cover keeps out most of the water, but it usually ends up getting saturated and getting the car wet anyways :( . I guess at that point, i should probably do something to it, but i usually end up leaving it until i have time to wash a few days later.

Promotheus...the Nextec covers bead water..and most runs right off.....even after snow sits on the cover.

After a rain, I give it a quick shake and most comes off. It does not saturate. You will only find slight moisture around seams.

Prometheus what brand of car cover are you using as most of them a water repellent. I’ve been using the Weathershield it actually beads water.

You could try spraying your cover with 303 High Tech Fabric Guard it will restore rain repellence

Mine DOES repel the water, but some still gets through. It does bead the water quite well also, but for some reason the beads dont like to roll off the roof and hood, just sit there. This is where most of the water comes through is on those two spots. Mostly happens in winter, get a coupla inches of snow on it, lower stuff melts and seeps through the cover. But if we get a really nasty rain storm and the cover gets super wet, it will soak through. Not horribly, but enough to make me wash the car. I think it is a Budge car cover, but ill have to go look, its in my trunk right now.

I think Weathershield is the same as WeatherGuard...they use Nextec material....it all depends on from whom you bought the cover. Covercraft makes just about all the covers that you can buy.
