I think at one time, someone was trying to sell a set of those on here. Maybe you could get the hook-up :dunno

Yeah, if they were the right size I guess. I need 15's.

They are pretty pricey. I am also looking at the Dunlop tires.

I have a set of Kelly Magna-Grip tires on my car for winter. They were cheap and look like old school snow tires. My wife calls them the "monster truck tires". They are noisy and steal a bit of miles per gallon, but they'll go through anything.

I've heard good things about Firestone WInterfire tires for a reasonably priced winter tire. Blizzacks are nice, but I've read that the compound lasts only a winter or so.

PM NYV6Coupe. He has some 15" Blizzaks, or at least he did. He posted pretty recently about selling them on here. Good Luck!

Its funny this question came up i was just looking for a set of tires for my car for the winter months and wanted something with an aggresive patter and look to them.

Scott P, So it sounds like the tires that you have is what i am looking for. I like how your wife calls them "monster truck tires". lol.
Where did you get them from??
What size do you run??
Price??
Do you keep them on your stock rims or do you have a set of winter rims??

Sorry for all the questions but really intrested.

Thanks,
Mark

I've still got the 15" Blizzak's mounted on Honda 5 lug wheels, balanced & ready to go. Honda wheel covers are included.

Used less than 1/2 a winter, I changed over to 16" Blizzak's.

I've used the 16's through 2 winters & they still have 10/32nd's tread, they were 11/32nd's when new so I have not experienced accelerated wear.

no plugs, patches, or unusual treadwear

$400 + shipping or local pick-up is OK

If anyone's interested, let me know & I'll provide additional details, pics available.

Bob-

I'm using Michelin Artic Alpins on 195 55 15 black steelies (wheels are tires shipped from tirerack was about $450 total last year). They are not quite as good in the snow as blizzaks but will last longer, are cheaper, and handle better. They are a bit better than all-seasons. IMO it only snows here like 5-10 times where it actually sticks. For me I though Blizzaks were overkill. I used my Alpins for 4 months last year and they show almost no wear.

Tires are all about compromises as to what features are important to you.

Hop on eBay...

I have seen plenty of Blizzak's on there on or off 4-lug steelies for Hondas. Everyone claims they are amazing.

I am sticking with my Dunlop SP Sport8000's on my GSR stock wheels. They are Z-rated all season. I had em in the snow last year and they did pretty well. The treads aren't too close together so I feel it gives it a chance to chanel out snow.

But yeah, definately Blizzak's for the ultimate snow traction.

Yeah, my point is just that for the 10 days in winter when there is snow on the road, blizzaks will rule. But you have to think about the other 100 days of winter the roads are dry, I've heard blizzaks are not very fun going 70-80mph.

I read that in Car and Driver last month. They tested a Mini Cooper and said they had to switch off the Blizzaks cause the roads were dry and the car handled like it had a front end suspension problem.

I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with using Blizzak's. I drive up to Toronto frequently & the QEW is always moving at 80 mph or better. I don't have any shaking or abnormal noise & the tires will go through anything.

If you're trying to run a slalom course in record time, or trying to pull 1g on a skid pad, then look else where 'cause the tires were not designed with that type of driving in mind. Snow + ice = slow down.

Forgot to mention I have four Blizzak MZ-02's to sell for $400, not two and the MZ-02's are supposed to be better on ice than the other Blizzak's.

Contact me & we can work something out.

I've used four 16" Blizzak's on my Accord the last couple winters & I don't have anything negative to say about them.

Those higher end blizzaks are much better from what I hear but at least new are pricy. My Alpins were (I think) $70 each, the "performance" type blizzaks were over $100 each. The base level blizzaks are what handle worse, apparently.

Yeah, they're expensive but for the confidence they inspire it's worth it.

The Blizzak's were $125 each + all the incidental NYS taxes. The Honda steelies & wheel covers were $125 off Ebay + shipping.

Mounting, valve stems & balancing was another $75 so I'm trying to get about 1/2 what I spent.

Winter's comin'

Not to bust your bubble, but I think Bob's Civic is 4 lug? At least my 98 Acura is 4 lug. You are selling for a good price though :bigups

Yeah, I have 4 lug. ;)

Here are the tires I run:

I bought them from the warehouse that supplies Dunn Tire. I got them at wholesale pricing ($55), but have seen them for about $75 or so in ads. They look meaner in person. I drove back from York, PA through six or more of snow without problems. I formed my own traffic lanes and had 4x4 trucks following me. :D
