what procedure between coats?

I've searched enough, with hundreds of results without finding my specific answer. Then getting so involved with reading other results, I forgot what my original search was for. So lo and behold, 4-5 hours have passed. Man, a person can get lost in here. Time flies by.....

On to the Question: "Between coats of AIO, then topping w/ P21s (because I didn't complete it all in one day, no PC). Was I supposed to wash the car if a couple of days had passed?"

Yes, I ended up washing the car, (I was given Zymol auto wash, smells great) because I thought too much time had passed (2 days). I have been reading this site long enough to realize a quality car wash should not remove the layers BUT would a quick detail been sufficient between coats?

Yes, absolutely a QD would have been just fine if that's all it needed. There is no real "procedure" in between AIO and wax, you just need to have the paint perfectly clean prior to waxing. This is true any time you're waxing anyway, so wash or carefully QD it as you see fit (washing is more thorough by default though).

I like to wash between coats of wax if the vehicle has been used or even sat outside on night.

If you didn't drive it and garaged it, then you could get away with just waxing it. You probably wouldn't even need to quick detail it. Man... I hate people who have garages... :D

Thanks for the answers. You know, I wasn't sure I really kept waffling back n forth on which to do. I had just washed it last wednesday on x-mas (had to play with the products). So come Saturday I wanted to finish with a 2nd coat of AIO, (didn't know if the 2nd coat would "clean" off the 1st coat or add on to it) then top with P21s. So I just washed it, (which ended up being the long way since a QD would have been sufficient), had a couple of neighbors looking at me funny because they were walking their dog about the same time each day and I'm sure they remember I had just washed it 2 days earlier...
