What Polish should I use?

Weight is the enemy.
I just removed the swirls on my Taurus, or at least tried to. I made two passes over everything with SSR 2.5 on speed 6 with my LC orange pad. It seemed to bring the gloss up a lot, but when I looked at it today I still could see a ton of swirls and scratches in it. I was wondering what kind of polish you all would use to get these out. I would prefer Megs pro line because I can get that locally, but any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Poorboy's SSR2.5 has been compared to Meg's #83 DACP for abrasiveness.
Based on that, a couple of less abrasive Meg's products are:
# 3 Machine Glaze - Abrasive level of 1 on Meg's scale of 1 to 10.
#82 Swirl Free Polish - Abrasive level of 3 on Meg's scale of 1 to 10.
#80 Speed Glaze - Abrasive level of 4 on Meg's scale of 1 to 10.

As a point of reference, #83 DACP has an abrasive level of 6.

From what many people have suggested, I think I would try the #80.

What kind of pad is the LC orange pad? Cutting or polishing? SSR2.5 is some pretty mean stuff. I have not had much that I couldn't remove using it at speed 6 on the PC and going very slowly over each panel (sectioned off of course). I have used SSR3 on some tougher stuff and it worked well, just had to remove the haze afterwards.

I actually need something more abrasive to get out some deeper swirls. I used the pad that comes in Autogeek's kit, I think it's a polishing pad but I'm not sure, it seemed to take a lot of the swirls out really well, but it missed quite a few on the trunk, roof, and doors.

Maybe this is an excuse to pick up a new pad.....:naughty I would have to say SSR3 is pretty good for me when trying to get at those deeper scratches. I know some people say you can't use it with a PC, but I have gotten great results with it & a polish pad. Conversely, I have also gotten good results with SSR2.5 when stepping up to a cut pad as well. :) I hope you get it all worked out.

IMHO, if the SSR2.5 didn't get the swirls and scratches out, you probably need a more aggressive product and a rotary buffer to get them out completely. You could try DACP and a cutting pad with your PC. Sometimes the DACP gets out slightly more swirls........... depending on the paint, and how you work the products.

I don't have any experience with PB's SSR line, but I do know that DACP combined with an LC cutting pad on the PC can handle some pretty nasty stuff. Follow up with #80 and a polishing pad and in *most* cases you can go to a carnauba based LSP. If you are going to a sealant (other than EX) you may want to wipe down with AIO or 50/50 ISO/Water.

Another thought, #83 is NOT sun friendly as are PB's products.
