I am going to get the new groit's machine and I am going to get some pads with it, with my pc I used edge 4 inch pads but the power of the griots I am looking at LC 5.5 pads but which ones?? The Kompressors, the flat pads, the groved pads???? Not sure, no idea? I am going to get a flexible backing plate though. I want to order tonight so I might have them by saturday as this is monday. Any suggetsions will be greatly appreciated. I have a 4 door F150 and 2 mustangs to keep clean as well as the few details on the side so I want to step up to bigger pads to hopefully save some time. Thanks again

i would go flat pads. i use ccs right now and they work but im looking to switch to flat pads. the lc hydro tech pads are suppose to be really good

Yes a few people use them and I've heard nothing but good things but I would go with flat pads. Not knowing what the paint looks like you might want to go with:

2 yellow

2 orange

2 green

3 white

1 or 2 black

1 red

check this link out; might help you pick what you need to get, I think autogeek uses different colors but same think

Any one use the hydrotech pads?

Those are the cyan and tangerine ones, right?

I haven't used them, but I hear the tangerine one is *very* similar to the ~6" Griot's orange, which I simply *love* via Flex; it's too big for my PCs, dunno if the Griot's machien will have the oomph for it or not (yeah, I know, oughta work since they're all Griot's stuff, but eh.. :nixweiss ).

yeah those are the ones, cyan and tangerine. I really want to try them out but cannot afford to waste any money if they do not perform. I have got to decide soon though.

I have tried the Tangerine Hydrotechs, but with a rotary.

I like em. I used the Tangerine with P203s, and I feel like it did leave a very nice gloss, and took out some water spots too.

Next time, I will try the Cyan, with the P203s to tackle some minor swirls.

Maybe you should also get a black flat pad, in case you want to enhance the gloss after the Tangerine.

So, my take :

Get:

1 cyan (or 2, depending on how much heavy correction needed)

2 Tangerine (1 for medium polish, 1 for a finishing polish)

1 Black Finishing pad. (Flat, just my preference) with a finishing polish

But in my first try with a rotary, I don't think I needed a black pad.

I was checking out the chart and noticed Green LC pads have slighly less cut then white pads? I thought Green was between Orange and White in terms of agressiveness.

i personally would skip on the greens unless your planning on just doing a one-step...

2 orange, 2 white and a black should be great for what your looking to do

There are two greens.

At least. I can't keep the various "green foam" pads straight.

Yeah, its out of control now. I had to print a chart to hang on my detailing cabinet because I couldn't keep it straight in my head. Meguiars was keeping the sanity till they started messing with the colors now. We need standardized colors.

Unfortunately, the various manufacturers aren't cooperating on that score. It can be pretty confusing, which is why I bundle the matching pad with all my GlossHaus stuff.

Frankly, I haven't really seen anything in the CCS, etc. pads that would prompt me to switch from my tried-and-true LC flat pads.

Pads used in car can be of various types. You should take care of Brake pads, wheel pads, car seat pads, etc in order to get good performance out of your vehicle. Parking pad catches every drop of mud, slush and grime that falls off of your vehicle onto your garage floor. Hence, different car pads have their different role in maintaining the car and its performance level.

FANTASTIC information. Oh, and should I click the spam link in your signature now?

:beware

Why two more "special" colors? Theres nothing a yellow, orange, white, black and red cant do.....................2 greens? WTH? Matter of fact, i did a number on an Audi R8 yesterday with ghost water spots with 5.5 Orange and FK 17 Micro Compound, followed by Opt Compound II w/white. (Then UPP of course). One of the better finish jobs I have done.

a.k.a. Patrick- I dunno if that cyan pad is gonna prove to be anything special, but if the tangerine one, and its being offered in various sizes, effectively puts the Griot's orange into more widespread use, then that's good news IMO.

Gee, am I a cheerleader for that particular pad type or what :o
