What kind of water do you use?

I am just curious as to what type of water everyone uses in their water tanks. Ideally, I would like to use some type of deionized water to reduce or eliminate water spots, but I have no idea how I can get this type of water. Anyone know?

Do most of you just use normal tap water?

Some areas have "water stores" where you can buy spot free water. I rent DI tanks and convert tap water into spot free.

US filter is one company that offers the tank service. I pay about $80 a month for DI tank rental.

Superior Fine,

Thanks for the response. Could you elaborate more on this DI tank rental? I'm hoping they have this type of service in my area. Can you rent as many times as needed during that particular months time. I just did a search on DI water and am wondering if it wouldn't be more cost effective to just purchase your own system from crspotless or someplace similar? The only thing that has me worried is the fact that you can't recharge the filters on those units like you can with soft water systems. Instead, you need to buy a whole new filter, which isn't cheap. And replacing those filters after every 300 gallons seems impractical to me at this moment.

If I decide to go the DI route, is there a way that I can use the DI water just for the final rinse? I have a 200 gallon water tank and really don't want to be using the DI water during the power washing stage. I would like to save it for when its really needed. The time spent having to dry every last bit of water off of vehicles would be invaluable. If necessary though, I would be willing to use strictly DI water during all stages. How do you go about this? Do you just fill your entire water tank with DI water?
