What kind of pads for Menzerna?

I made a deal with the neighbor: He wants his car's detailed. I told him that I need a buffer first. Needless to say we were are off to Lowes shortly to get one.



I bought the Menzerna car care kit from PAC (Premium auto care). It includes the following:



Menzerna Auto Shampoo

Menzerna Final Polish II

Menzerna Final Touch Glaze

Menzerna FMJ :bow



What pads to I need to buy to apply this with the PC?



The black car I own has paint that is about 3 years old. I had it repainted with PPG at a body shop. The paint is excellent, and to my suprise very little orange peel, if any. With the hours that I work, I have not had time to keep it up as I should for a black car. It has some swirls, not much, the paint is clean--I do keep it clayed & waxed.



I am going to use all of the Menzerna products on this car to bring it back to the "out of the paint booth perfect"



The truck: Has very minor swirls. You can only see it at night if you have it parked under a bright light and look at an angle @ the paint. I am most likely going to do everything on the truck by hand with the above Menzerna Products, unless I should use a PC. Could I get away with only using the glaze and FMJ?, or the FMJ alone? I have 3 coats of #26 on it. I'm sure it will have to be stripped using dawn??





The neighbor's cars are going to be easy details. I can use the air compressor to blow out the inside, then wipe it all down, vac, etc. The paint on his car is white, just needs a good wax, and his black envoy will probally need all the Menzerna steps, as he has gotten it swirled.

Menzerna IP with LC orange or white, depending on the marring. If orange, follow that with IP on white. Finally FP with LC gray finishing pad @ 6 pn PC or 3000 RPM if a rotary.

That seems awefully high for a finishing polish. I guess if it works for you though...



I like the FPII with Finishing pads (I use the LC black pads) with a speed on the rotary around 12-1400rpm. Though I have used it up to 2000 on harder paint for hologram removal with good results.
 
Thanks guys. I bought a pad kit from excel detail $52.00, and an extra blue & green pad. I also bought some more WW towels. I was more than impressed.



Again, I got another refund for actual shipping costs. This guy is the best. He'll be on my "always buy from hiim" list
 
I always use FPII with a white polishind pad. I see others use it with a Finishing pad, why is that? FPII has VERY little abrasives in it (very very little) but is meant to burnish the paint hence why I think a white pad would do the job. A finshing pad would be used for their Menzerna Final Touch Glaze and Menzerna FMJ.
 
The white pad has a little bit of "cut" in it. When I use FP I expect all the cutting to be already done and all I'm after is the burnishing.
 
Surface Preparation- (using Menzerna polishes and Klasse All-In-One):

Methodology

â€Â¢Wash vehicle with a good quality car wash concentrate 1.0oz per 2 gallon (Groit's Car Wash)

â€Â¢Rinse vehicle thoroughly.

â€Â¢Remove any imbedded contaminants with detailing clay (Clay Magicâ„¢) with a lubrication solution of a 5:1 (Distilled water/Woolite®)

â€Â¢Remove surface imperfections (Menzerna Intensive Polish) CAS 6/10, Orange /White Pad, speed # 3.5-4.0

â€Â¢A swirl mark remover (Menzerna Final Polish II, (contains oils) CAS 3/10, White Pad, speed # 4.0 - 4.5

â€Â¢Final polishing (Menzerna Final Polish II) grey/black Pad, speed # 5.5

â€Â¢Work the polish until â€Ëœalmostâ€â„¢ dry or when it changes to a thin, clear (Vaseline like) liquid, its not necessary to use until it becomes a powder or has completely dissipated

â€Â¢To ensure surface defects have been removed check paint surface by applying Isopropyl Alcohol, let dwell for 30-45 seconds and remove with a clean 100% cotton towel (DF Alpine)

â€Â¢Clean paint film surface with a chemical cleaner / polish (Klasse All-In-One)

â€Â¢Dry thoroughly and start applying a polymer sealant

Menzerna FP II - Green @ 3.5 (Light swirl removal)

Menzerna FP II - Blue @ 4.0 (To shine it up)

Menzerna FT Glaze - Grey finishing pad @ 5.5 (To deepen the shine?)



Menzerna FMJ - By hand.

Any replies? I'm interested in the answers as well because I'm going to be using Propel pads and Menz too this weekend on a friend's guinea pig car - though w/ AIO and Zaino as sealants. This was my plan:



Menz IP - Yellow Med Cut (if needed - still have to inspect my friend's car thoroughly)

Menz FP II - Green (same as above - light swirl removal)

MEnz FP II - Blue (for gloss)

AIO - Grey pad or by hand

Z - by hand



I'll probably skip IP and FP II w/ the green pad for my car since it's new.



Can any of the polishing gurus on the forum critique Mighty HD's and my plan? Thanks for the help.
