What is this on my paint?

Ever since I moved this spring and had to start parking outside overnight, every once in awhile I find something like this on the roof of the car. At first I thought someone was spitting on my car, but as you can see in these pics, it doesn't really look like that sort of pattern. Sometimes it looks like a dried glob or stringy thing, but other times it's more like this. My guess is a bird, but what is it? Bird pee? Bird drool? It definitely reminds me of what dried spit looks like.

I haven't noticed any etching, but since my car's getting repainted this week, the paint is going to be extra-vulnerable when it comes out of the shop.

Looks like little foot prints. Dang varmits.

Yeah I think it is footprints in this shot, but it would have to be a bird because they show up in the middle of the roof or somewhere without prints leading to them. There's other times it definitely does not look like footprints, but like a glob or like a stringy loogie splashed onto the paint, but (and I can't describe this very well) a lot of the time the stringy ones are in a shape that it's hard to picture spit landing. Also, if it's just footprints, why does it look like dried spit, sort of a dried "foamy" appearance?

Hard to tell from the pics, but could be dust that has coalesced after mixing with condensation.

HOLY $HIT!!! I get the same thing only after I use Zaino! At first I thought it happenned because I covered the car at night. When I removed teh cover the next day, it was loaded with it. I finally polished my G last Saturday and low n behold, same thing on Sunday. I didn't have it covered this time to see if it would happen......it did! In person, they almost look like snail trail or slug trail, but there is no way it could be that!



What wax/sealer did you use?
