Just a regular guy
If we were to examine your car would we find....

Paint- Highly polished paint that is clean, smooth, and well protected?

Interior- A perfectly clean interior, dressed to the nines, and a carpet that not even a CSI could find DNA on?

Engine- An engine so clean we could eat off of it?

Wheels- Not even a speck of brake dust behind the calipers?

Windows- Is it possible that I might try to shake your hand when your behind the driver's seat and break a finger?

Other- Something I missed?

If it's all of the above, then what is the most important part, which to you obsess about the most?

I choose wheels because every time I wash my car, I make sure to do a killer job on the wheels. In fact the I spend more time washing my wheels then anything else (total).

I try to clean my interior once a week, but lately I have been really bad.

I wash the paint once a week and hit it with a qd or spray wax, but I really only give it a detailed wash (cleaning the body seams, around the head lights, tailights, behind the mirrors in the housing, jambs) every month or so.

My engine is kinda clean, most of the time. I usually detail it before an oil change, so maybe once every 2 months.

I am probably the worst about my windows. I clean the exterior glass when I wash the car, so they don't get back at all, but I probably clean my interior glass about every 3 or 4 times I clean my interior.

Paint then wheels a very close second, Because I've spent 30 hours on paint befor and missed a spot on a wheel, ruined whole car for customer.... I'll never do that agian now I'm certifed wheel nazi lol

Paint for me too, I usually spend the most time on my own vehicle's paint. Next would be wheels. My wife however could not care less what the paint looks like as long as their is shine on the tires...so can you add "Shiny Tires" as one of the choices for her? LOL

I know this might come across as a cop out but I picked Other simply because I believe it is an "all of the above" type answer. A car isn't completely detailed until each of these areas have been thoroughly addressed. If I spend a day getting the exterior just right and don't do the same to the interior it just isn't a complete detail and it would bother me until it was finished.

I say the wheels because most people notice some good looking wheels, around here almost everyone drives a nice car and to see some well dressed tires really makes a car stand out.

my paint isn't flawless but a clean car is important to me and the wheels must match. the interior i try to clean but my wife makes it hard to keep up with. the engine i might show some attention twice a year.

Of course I consider paint but maybe the question should be what is the most under appreciated or neglected area of a car that should be detailed?

WOW the interior is taking a beating in this poll :D (I picked paint, it's the first thing you see)

Wow, paint is winning by a landslide.

If we were polling the most under appreciated part of a detail, I would vote for tires. Completely detailed tires should look good even before any shine/gloss/protectant is applied!

Paint > Windows > Wheels/Tires > Interior

Windows are near the top for me because I hate driving around with dirty windows. I detail my own daily driver and the dd's of family, so that affects my choice somewhat.

Interior for me...Although I love the look of dripping paint...You spend most of your time inside the car rather than staring at it...:D

The paint is the most critical area because it generally covers more surface area than anything else. When we're looking for a car what's the first thing that catches our eye? You guessed it, it's color, the paint!
