What is that stuff on my wheels?

Just bought a set of used wheels without seeing the pictures of the inside walls and here what I've got in return. Anyone has any idea what is that stuff all over the insides of the wheels and how can I clean it up?

The brown stuff is rust (but you knew that). The whiter stuff looks like corroded aluminum.

I get the same on my aluminum strut tower bar if I don't keep up with it. Polishiing and sealing are the best options. Waxes/polymer sealants are very short lived. I've heard of a product (Zoop Seal I think) that will seal aluminum wheels for about 2 years, but haven't tried it personally.

Clearcoating is another option.

Maybe someone else has better ideas.

Why are so many guys paranoid about the inside of their wheels. Who in the hell is going to see it? I can see if it was a show car. Might as well take off your seats and clean under them.

true, I would be less worried about how they look

and more concerned about replacing that gasket on the valve stem:eek:

Because you can see that white corrosion from the outside since it's located on the edge

You don't take out your seats? I do at least twice a year
