What Got You Here?

Not as juicy as it appears. Back in the Detail City days members were only allowed to discuss 1 manufactures line of products. Anyone that mentioned another line was considered a Trouble maker and was soon shown the door

I was here during the DC era and this simply isn't true. Even had sponsor nights in the Chat Room.

It wasn't. That's why it died

DC slowed down because Troy and Dwayne did not invest enough time to promote it (they had other full time jobs) and in a few occasions some newbies were scared off especially those that had opinions to the self-appointed moderators (not the official mods).

I was a member of Detail City (the join date in my avatar) and also a member of the Proper Auto Care forum before PBMG formally acquired Detail City from Troy/Dwayne and then renamed it, brought in Todd when PBMG acquired what was left of PAC along with Blackfire brand. They merged the PAC content into AF.

Same here. I still have a Detail City hat from Troy!

I wound up here after reading some stuff on detailed image. I think one of the writers there mentioned the site, so I came, lurked for a bit and signed up.

I got here after becoming interested in learning about new products as a result of reading the detailing forum on a BMW site. At that time I was pretty much wed to Zymol wax. Learned about Zaino on that site. Someone quoted a thread on AutoGeek which opened my eyes further and, in the natural progression, I found Autopia.

Pretty much the same way for me. Except this is the 2nd forum I lurked on for a quite a while and got tired of not having access to all the pictures so finally signed up. Only reason I didn't sign up right away is because I never thought I would be very active on here and I didn't expect to get even more interested in detailing.

The same, my first forum was detailingbliss.

Google led me here also. I did take a peek through several other forums myself but Autopia just had me hooked from the start I guess. I couldn't sign up fast enough.

I was here when it was DC and stayed during the transition (I think I needed to re-join though, don't remember). I'm suffering from CRS (Can't Remember Squat) and I don't remember how I found AGO, but I found MOL from the labels on their bottles. I still frequent all three, and I've gotta say that AF is pretty darn mellow compared to some

A detailing buddy and fellow forum member pointed me to Autopia. We were just shooting the sh1t while detailing our cars and he asked if I'd ever been to Autopia. I ended up lurking for a week or two before I joined up and started posting like a detailing nut.

I'm on the verge of retirement and I just purchased a black Kia Soul which I spent a lot of money on chrome to make it stand out.
Knowing black cars are the hardest to keep noticeably clean, I did a search, found this forum and haven't regretted it since.

For me, I google'd detail sites and up popped Autopia:

1. I read about a DA type of machine (Porter Cable) for correcting auto paint
2. tried Menzerna polishes (Jeff S.)
3. bought a copy of GURU reports (Steve L.)
4. then Zaino sealants (Sal Z.)
5. 13 years later thank you for starting Autopia (David B.)!

Dear Friends

Y'all make me feel like a young sprig. We bought our Honda Odyssey van in October 2011 and I wanted to take exemplary care of it. I joined Odyssey forum odyclub.com and discovered Detailer's Domain, where i joined the Detailing Bliss forum. I found Autogeek from posts on Detailing Bliss, and someone on the Autogeek forum pointed me here.

I love internet forums. I'm a member of about 350-360 of them.

I moved from AGO to Autopia because there is more freedom here. I got a time out from AGO to "think about AGO and it's rules". I thought about their rules and Autopia gives its members more freedom to speak about detailing and supplies, plus Vega is a great guy.
