what exactly is 1000p?

sealant or wax? I see it listed in threads here where people are asking for the most durable sealant, however it is called a 'high temp wax'. In addition, people mention spit shining it w/ 425. However, other members mention the fact that it is layerable. Furthering the confusion FK describes the product as, 'Developed from a West German process called Synthesis 1000P is a blend of advanced pure synthetic materials.'. From this I am to understand that there is no carnuba or waxes present, yet it is called a wax? what gives here?

Zaino refer to their sealants as polishes. I guess it's just a marketing thing. 1000P is a paste sealant.

FK says that it is a synthetic wax and not a sealant-I assume that means that it doesn't crosslink in the same manner as a sealant.

and the confusion continues...

Anyway, my real reason for this thread is that I will be using 1000p as my LSP due to its durability and the fact that my truck is outside 24/7. I'm trying to figure out what product I will be able to use to maintain slickness/protection inbetween applications of 1000p, yet still allow me to add another layer of the 'p' at will. In other words, I'm trying to decide between FX 100, and OCW.

Confusion? It seems straight-forward to me . . . you can use what ever you like to maintain slickness. FX-100 and OCW are fine. You can also use a QD in between waxing to maintain the shine. Have you considered 425?

OCW is carnuba based, is it not? If I were to use a carnuba based spray, and then want to add another layer of the synthetic 1000p would it not hurt the durability? This is my concern here...

OCW is part carnauba, part sealant...so to be safe go with 425 or FX-100.
