What do you do to clean/detail the........

your front grill? I just bought a 2004 Civic and it has a black mesh style grill that looks real hard to shine up. What can I use on the black to make it not look faded, yet be able to get the whole thing shiny? Thanks,

303 would be my first choice on any black exterior plastic/vinyl

Noting that I'm not familiar with Civics...



I probably depends on how badly weathered it is. I usually have good luck with AIO topped with KSG (yeah, on plastic ). Very time/labor intensive though, it's not a small or quick job.



I use swabs and collection of small sticks (including the cut-down halves of wooden clothepins) wrapped with MF to reach the tight spots.



The AIO cleans off the oxidation/etc. and the KSG keeps it nice.



If it's too weathered for that approach I'd use Autoglym's Bumper Care.

I like the Chemical Guy's Trim Gel, it lasts for a long time and if you buff it in good, won't streak. If you want the quick and easy approach, Stoner's More Shine Less Time is a great spray for this kinda work, and its handy to get into tight spots with.

I would go with 303 protectant. The grill you're talking about is not painted and has a matte-kind of finish. I don't think it is supposed to be shiney but you can make it look deep black.

If it is not textured or pourous, I would go with AIO.



That stuff cleans up oxidation and fading great and is easy on/off.

I used to use Megs Gold Class Trim Detailer. I recently started using the Sonus Trim and Tire Gel. Durbabilty wise it blows Megs away. I have a black rubber strip that runs around the side of my boat. The boat sits in the water 24/7 in the summer and the Sonus has been lasting 2'xs as long on the strip as the Megs did.
