What carpet extractor to purchase?

I'm just getting into detailing and would like a recommendation on a carpet extractor. I'm looking for something that's not real expensive, but will give me a clean interior that can be done quickly. What's everybody out there using and recommend? Thanks.

Cobra97,

The extractor I use and love is the Aztec. This little machine does everything you want it to do. The water will heat up to approx. 200 degrees in about 10-12 minutes. I have just purchased a second machine as a back up. I can't say anything bad about this machine. If you would like, do a search for Aztec on google or give me a P.Mm and I can give you a number and contact. The price of the machine is about $600.00. You could probally find one cheaper. Do you research, you don't want to buy a cheap model. You will get wat you paid for. Hope this helps, if not it's a starting point. Best of luck!

Looks like the Aztec and the Durrmaid are the two small ones that are popular. Question is...which one is better?

Also...on the Aztec, you have the option to get the clear suction nozzle or the steel one. Which one is better?

If you have a choice between a stainless or clear nozzle, I would go with the clear. When you go to extract the carpets you will actually be able to see what you are sucking up. When I do interior work I will keep working the same area over until what I am rinsing runs clear, that way you know the soil is completely gone. I just bought an extractor myself (Cross American Mitey-One) and did not see an option for a clear nozzle. I will probably end up trying to find a clear nozzle because I like that visual feedback knowing when something is "really clean"

Hope this helps you

Jeremy,

It's all personal preference. I actually have both. I like the clear nozzle so you can see the dirt being sucked up , but over time the plastic will wear down(resulting in purchase of a new one). Where with stainless it will not wear down, but you will be unable to see.

Nathan, How did you make out with Aztec? Did you call John?
