Anyone else have this spending problem?

Haha! Cool!! Brings back memories (of when I used to watch tv!).

I will say that my detail budget has grown since linking up with this site!

is to limit yourself to a couple of new products every year.

After the NXT hype (which I bought into and came away disappointed), I reigned in my irrational exhuberance and started to spend alot of time researching, reading and deciding on my new product selections and their costs.

2 years ago it was Menzerna's PG, IP, FP, Z-16 and 1Z Perls. Last year it was Waynestowels, Meg's new Ultimate MF, FTG and FMJ and 1Z WP and Glanz. Looking back the cost was < $100/yr and each product turned out to be top-notch. This year it looks like Z-2 Pro/ZFX/Z-8 and Optimum Polish. No more just buyit and tryit for me.

You forgot the option of trading products with other members. For example, that is how I found out I really liked Glanz Wax enough to order and pay for it out of my own pocket.

The only real price for admission to the Autopian club is purchasing newly discovered world of products for our obsession - detailing. After this initial "kid in the candy store" responses to all these toys, one tends to find a combination of products that works for you and the spending decreases greatly. More importantly one discovers the real art of detailing is in the prep, maintenence, and the skills required to approach our goal of the prefect shine. Not the LSP, fancy polishes and ultra soft towels. In other words it is the sharing of detailing skills that one reads about here at Autopia that is the most valuable product and that is free.

Thanks DavidB :bow

Couldn't agree more :xyxthumbs

My fav is P21S (easy to use, great initial shine/slickness, good beading for a few weeks, #1 rated by Guru) but I am more curious as to which waxes have you NOT tried or which ones have you tried.

Yes...then people start thinking you need to see a psychiatrist about your detailing obsession. :nixweiss

I know what you mean. I saw a good deal Glanz Wax here the other day and couldn't resist!

YOU TOO ? I am feeling frustrated because there is always a new product seems like daily I want to try..... RESISTANCE IS FUTILE !

I try to hold out, but a couple weeks is my record..... just a little more depth, just a bit more reflectivity.... I am always seeking that magical product combo that gives me that impossible effect I fantasize about constantly. I think I am an addicted detailer.... hopeless ! Happy about it..... love the looks I get when I drive into a crowded parking lot..... sometimes its pure awe I see. I was doing that before I knew what I was looking at. Now I know it was TLC by the owner and just maybe an Autopian owner was driving. So I am always checking out product lines.... its ok, I'm harmless, just slowly going broke :bigups

David, before you announce a cure, check the recidivism rate. Besides with a warehouse full of product who is to say you don't sneak a fix here and there :D

2004 was a banner year for my spending on new products. 2005 is much better since I found products that work for me.

Even though I have found products that work (and work well), I don't seem to resist the lure of the promise of another product that will be better.

Already in '05 I've added another QD to the ever growing stable. Added another glaze product. I also have plans to add some new PC pads. I really don't see an end. Hey, I'm doing my part to keep the economy oiled.
