Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant is always a good option. Solution Finish offers their trim sealant Over The Top which is pretty good as well. Then you also have ceramic coatings for trim. What route are you looking to go for?
I heard for trim on a new car a good option is solution finish first followed by a sealant because the solution finish has to be sealed. Seams like a lot of work. Anything that is really good and will protect my trim on my new car I will try it. Thanks
I would suggest the Wolfgang or Ultima stuff to start with.
But there are so many options. You could probably just go to the auto parts store and get the name brand offering and be good.
I haven’t found any trim product that truly stops fading permanently. That’s when you add a trim dye / restorer and keep applying it as they wear away.
When it comes to hard plastic trim in areas like the wiper cowling, spoilers, lower trim around the tailpipes, or splitters below the grill, I've been using a normal paint coating with pretty good success on newer vehicles where the trim hasn't started to fade.
By the time you decide, your trim will be faded and you will be back asking us what trim RESTORER we use. Did you put the wax on your car yet? If you put Collinite 845 on your trim and wipe it off before it dries...your trim will look great.
Don't use it on anything furry, and on textured trim wipe it off before it dries. On difficult surfaces like a wiper cowling with ridges, be careful to wipe it out of corners because it will be clear and not visible--until it dries. The WETS is foolproof though. That's what I would use.
The Project Farm guy tested these products in his Youtube video this past Sunday. He tested 10 mainstream products. He felt the Certakote product was likely to be the most durable of the ones he tested. Video is 17 mins long.
I used Cerakote on faded black plastic trim. It was a bit streaky but a second application smoothed the look out. It's help up fantastic over the last year.
