May 19, 2009 #2 J JohnKleven New member Generally single stage is softer than clearcoated paint, I wouldn't go too coarse on the sandpaper, start around 2000 grit or so. Some newer single stage paint jobs are not super soft, but if it's older, it's going to be pretty soft. John
