Wetsanded and buffed out a new paintjob...

Nothing special, so don't get excited... lol. This is my Del Sol...the guy before me bought a really cheap paintjob, it felt completely like sandpaper and was of horrible quality. I wetsanded the car and now have begun to buff it out... this is after one layer of Malco Finish Restorer to remove swirls, and topped with NXT. I couldn't get a pic to really show the flake of the paint, but here are pics of the hood. Any ideas on how I can really make this paint shine for the rest of the car? NXT was decent... but on this light of a color car I don't think that the NXT is at it's full potential. I was thinking VM, but I'm not sure where it can be purchased locally.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. A bit of the problem is the lighting/camera, since the reflections do look much better in real life. (Lighting situation in the garge right now is one 500w shoplight aimed directly down at the car, and the camera flash off.. there was some type of electrical problem in my garage and none of the lights are currently working)



The malco finish restorer is actually called "Restore It." It is said to remove swirl marks, and minor imperfections. It did remove 99% of the swirl marks, but definately needs something to give more depth to the paint. I almost hate to say it, but I'm hoping it's not the paint itself since it was only like $300.



I went in the garage to check the exact name of the Malco product, and with the lights off I could actually read product labels off of my hood's reflection from several feet away... so definately need to get some pics in the light this week and hopefully the reflection will look better.



edit: I think the before pic was from before wetsanding, but I don't remember... it was taken last summer/fall.
 
the reflections on your del so looked like what happened to my mothers car ..

even same symptoms sand paper feeling & blurry reflection.. :(



i believe wet sanding should fix it :) i was about to go that route... but didn't have the time.. so i went the PC/rubbing compond.. that worked for me
