wet vac or LGCM?

i need something better than the 3HP wet/dry Ridgid i currently have...it works fine for dry stuff, but water extraction is virtually non-existent.

should i get something dedicated like the LGCM or a higher powered shop vac?

the one thing i'm concerned w/ is the durability of the LGCM...they look cheap and fragile to me.

thoughts?

I like the LGM, but it's not really designed for the way we detailers use it (constant hard work). If you're going to be doing a lot of interiors then I would recommend just getting a really good wet/dry with the appropriate attachments right from the get go.

Go for the shop vac. I have a 5hp 4gal shop vac with a detailing kit and it works very well. After I have gone over the carpets or seats the fabric is almost dry, I've had some carpets that came up completely dry. I've used the larger more powerfull Bissel carpet cleaner but my shop vac sucks up more water. The LGCM doesn't seem like it would be very durable IMO.

yeah i too have been reading some threads on wet/dry vacs. judging by responses i picked up the ridgid WD4050 the other day from home depot and love it. its perfectly compact but it also has a lot of power (5hp). well worth the 70 bucks imo. i think im gonna pick up their accesory pack from their website for 20 though.

I have the LGCM and have only used it twice. For me it's to much of a hassle to set up and package up. I prefer to spray, scrub, and vaccum (Rigid 5 HP 4 Gal vaccum). I think it does a better job for what I see.

I bought a LGCM.

*I* found it to be a hassle to use. The hose is too short and the unit must be set in the car to reach some areas. I found that the "turbo brush" was a joke. Its true that is scrubs or aggitates the area, but it rotates slowly and is powered by a rubber band looking (small) belt. I see that breaking fairing quickly. The spray from the regular head (with brush) was very wide. It sprayed about three times the width of the head itself. I thought the suction was on the poor side.

I was somewhat disappointed in the end and took it back. I'd much rather use my PC with a brush attachment and my Ridgid "Stor-n-go" (or my Craftsman) wet / dry vac.

I have both the Wall mounted Ridgid and the LGCM - - I dont even use the LGCM anymore. The wey/dry vac has so much suction it allows the carpet to dry so much faster and no solution is left behind!

I have the Ridgid WD1245....

well what can I say it is truly awesome!! I can do 2-3 cars before I empty it, its definately the "Pro's" Vac. If you sit on the carpet a little longer with it will turn up 80-90% dry.... the greatest part about this vac though is that the motor detaches and it becomes a powerful leaf blower that I use to get all the water in the cracks and crevaces out..... next to the power washer its my most used tool by far.... I've had it for 2 years and it hasn't ever quit on me!!

After buying my Ridgid 5hp 4 gallon one ($70) I don't even use the LGCM anymore. I found that the Ridgid vac had more suction power when extracting water.
