[website] To list prices or not?

Jean-Claude

Keeper of the beautiful
I currently have my prices listed on my site. Being that I do charge more than 95% of the mobile detailers in the state, I can see a benefit and a drawback to listing prices.

The pro is that it automatically scares off the price-shoppers.

The con is that it may scare off those who otherwise could be convinced of the value in using my services while having a phone conversation with them.

I've noticed that of the possible clients who call me and ask prices, I can convince many of them of the real value in using my services. I wonder if the sticker shock of the noted prices runs many of those off before I can get that phone call.

I think you see where I am coming from here. What's your take fellas? Have you made this type switch and what results have you had?

Definitely list prices, if the price seems too much on their "nice" car, then they may call anyways to find out what makes your service different than a typical $300 detail.

I list the common prices, and keep the more extensive work as a Must See for Quote type of thing. Plus for full correction, its flat rate with an estimated time frame

Ive been debating the same thing, Knoxville TN doesn't have any lambo's and bentley's arround here. Cars arround here top out at Mercedes and lexus and BMW's, And still a $300 detail is unheard of arround here. plus all these GOOBER hackjob places charge $50 for a full "Winterize your car" job. One sent me a message on facebook about the $50 winterize job, so I asked him "what kind of products do you use" and he said "All Biodegradable Chemicals and Blue Coral, Simoniz, or Meguiars's Wax" I chuckeld

I contemplated this too. I have another business which i don't list prices on. It seems to encourage the customer to call/email and discuss. This gives me their contact info and lets me "work them" a bit. They find a bit more out about me/my way of doing business and the price becomes dust in the wind VS the product and service i'm offering.

With the detailing gig, i wanted people to know what they were getting into. no surprises, no "how much for? ...can we do this and not that?...would you accept this low ball amount instead?" I would rather them take it or leave it and not be bugged with haggling.
