WaxWorks: 2008 BMW 328i

DaGonz

Autopia fire/rescue.
This was today's detail; a 2008 BMW 328i Cabrio in titan silver. The car had the typical BMW brake dust and had road tar and pine sap on the paintwork.

The process: Exterior

  • washed with CAR Products Sudsational car wash shampoo/microfiber mitt
  • Wheels cleaned using AutoMagic acid based wheel cleaner. I started with the CAR Products Magnum, and it got most of it off, but the stubborn stuff required the use of the AM acid.
  • tires cleaned with CAR Products MaxiWhite tire cleaner
  • road tar removed uisng CAR Products Solv-all solvent w/ a mesh sponge
  • Rewashed with Sudsational
  • clayed with CAR Products Microbar detail clay and Meguiar's #34 Final Inspection
  • polished with Sonus Swirlbuster via PC w/ Sonus Swirlbuster pad. The paintwork was ready for the LSP at this point.

  • 2 layers of Meguiar's #21 Synthetic Sealant applied via PC w. DAS finishing pad
  • Stoners MSLT on the tires
  • Stoners IG on the exterior glass, then treated with RainX
  • engine bay was wiped down with Meguiar's Final Inspection.

Interior: the interior was fairly clean and just needed a real good vacuuming.
  • Lexol products used on the leather
  • interior panels and dash cleaned with Meguiar's Interior QD
  • Stoners IG on the glass

Very nice work. What medium/brushes did you use to remove the brake dust with?

I used AutoMagic's acid based wheel cleaner. I got a gallon of it years ago when I did some detailing for a limo company. It's a concentrate, I mix it 50/50 with water,

I used a regular wheel brush and old toothbrushes to get in at the crevices.
