Waxing Question

I detailed my car a couple of weeks ago and it came out really nice. I used #9, then Blackfire Polish, a Teflon Based Sealent, Blackfire Sealent, then topped it with S100. My question is how long does that S100 usually last? I wonder, whats better, the S100, or NXT? I plan on using a .25 car wash sometime today, (I have very hard well water) if I'm carefull, will my wax be safe. I handwash there with my 100% lambswool mit from Autopia and NXT Wash. Can NXT be applied over the S100 Caranuba? Will I get a good shine, or will it not matter? From everything I read, the NXT seems to be a better protectant. Thanks in advance everybody. :xyxthumbs

I'll take a shot at this..... I have found that NXT and S100 both produce a nice shine but both don't give you long protection. If you wax your car regularly at least every few weeks then you should be fine with either product. You just have to decide which one looks better on your color paint. NXT has some better qualities as it has some cleaning abilities and claims it hides minor imperfections. It is also a polymer based product as S100 is a pure carnuba. You should be fine with the .25 car wash just don't use their soap or you probably won't have any wax left.

Also... Its hard to say how long exactly S100 lasts. It all depends on your enviroment. Is the car garaged, kept outside in the full sun, etc. I find that when I use NXT I get about 3 to 4 weeks of good beading action with a car that stays out 24/7. S100 is about the same. NXT will probably degrade your S100 if you top it, but then again how long has the S100 been on. Either way it won't hurt anything so go ahead and top it.

Gentlemen, thanks for the qiuck reply. I put the S100 on about 2 weeks ago on my black Ford Focus. It's garage kept half the week from 8am -10pm and for three days of the week only from 8am -2pm. It's been rainy on and off here lately. Hasn't been very hot like a usuall Michigan summer, thankfully. The NXT or S100 won't break down the Blackfire Sealent will it? I never use the soap at the cash wash, I bring my NXT soap. Thanks again.

S100 won't break down the Blackfire sealant but NXT might. I can't say how much for sure But probably only slightly because NXT has some mild cleaning/polishing abilities.

Thanks for the tips everybody. I guess I'll stick with the S100. Is NXT spray wax ok, or same properties as NXT?

Are you talking about the booster wax? If so I think it is just ment to top an exsisting coat of NXT for best results. I've tried it and thought it was PITA to remove.

Try this: apply NXT then top it with S100 see how you like that. That way the your not degrading the S100. I would let NXT cure at least 24 hrs though.

i agree, don't use the booster wax! in the same amount of time it takes to use it, you could've just applied another coat of NXT!

and if you are curious about NXT, maybe you can remove the blackfire/s100 combo (clay or something) from half of the hood, and then put the NXT on. two applications is recommended, with 12 hours between application, or if that is not possible, at least 1 hour between application. see how that looks. and if you're still curious, wait 24 hours, and then top half of the NXT side with s100.

Which products would you reccomend for lasting protection? I am always in search of a good long lasting product for the wife-mobile. (Please no NuFinish jokes. We have beat that horse way too many times here.)
